Edited by I1JQJ & IK1ADH
FAREWELL TO A FRIEND - The RSGB DX News
Sheet, one of the many creatures of the late Geoff Watts, has
been a most valuable source of DX information since 1962. The
RSGB has now decided that with effect from 30 June 1999, the
Society will no longer be producing the DX News Sheet due to a
diminishing number of subscribers. At the same time Chris Page,
G4BUE, current Editor of the DXNS, says he is not in a position
to be able to take the DXNS on completely. We are sad to see the
ending of this prestigious bulletin, with which we have had the
pleasure to co-operate for years, on the basis of a most fruitful
mutual exchange of information - THANK YOU, CHRIS from the very
bottom of our hearts.

around 35,000 QSOs have been made (1,000 on RTTY) and it is hoped
to end up with 40,000 in the log. The operation will close down
at 22 UTC on 10 April. QSL via N7LVD.

with 100 watts and a dipole. He checks 28.885 and monitors

GOOD TO KNOW - Edited by I1JQJ & IK1ADH
BY1DX [425DXN 412] ---> The following
is an abstract of a message received from Ban ZhiGang,
BA1MK (Chairman, Beijing DX Club): "BY1DX is
licensed to 'Beijing Chaoyang Youngsters' Center of
Science and Technology'. It is located in the 7 story
building of the Center at the East edge of Beijing city.
As identical the same as other existing 80 club stations
of Youngsters' centers, schools and universities in
China, the main goal of BY1DX is to promote the young
students' interests in radio technique, and also may
accept foreign operators for guest operation, whenever
arrangement is practical, and if the visitor hold
operating certificate from CRSA. We do appreciated the
kind sponsorship from Nokia (China) for our friends and
kids here. However, it would be not true if we say 'it is
first-ever foreign corporate sponsored amateur radio club
in China', because since 1981 several dozens amateur
radio club stations in China have been established under
the kind sponsorship from foreign amateur radio
organizations, clubs, companies, publishers, and
individuals in the same way."
