GOOD TO KNOW - Edited by I1JQJ & IK1ADH
QSL 3Y0C ---> Mac, WA4FFW reports
that 5000 cards were sent out on 17 August. This first
batch of direct QSLs does not include stateside cards,
which will be processed and mailed within the next two
weeks. The aim is to get the cards out in time to allow
everyone to receive them before the September deadline.
[TNX OPDX Bulletin]
QSL VK0LD ---> These cards are
available at http://www.eQSL.cc/ only [425DXN
501], however electronic cards are not acceptable for
DXCC credit. Now Alan reports the following: "Anyone
who had a valid QSO with VK0LD and downloaded a VK0LD
eQSL card from the eQSL website who wishes to submit such
a card to DXCC can forward the eQSL card to me for
personal authentication. I will check the card against
the original log and sign the reverse of the card, stamp
it with a special VKØLD rubber stamp and return the card
to sender. I would then suggest that the card is
laminated by the sender. The ARRL has advised that this
will be sufficient to make the VK0LD eQSL card valid for
Macquarie Island according to the ARRL rules for DXCC
accreditation. This gesture is PRIMARILY for those
stations who ONLY worked VK0LD (Macquarie Island) and
need it for a new country or band/mode but DID NOT work
either VK0MM or AX0LD". Cards should be sent to the
following address (please write "PRIVATE &
CONFIDENTIAL" on the envelope): Alan Cheshire, c/o
Station Engineer, West Coast Radio, P.O. Box 688,
Mandurah, Western Australia 6210, Australia. Include a
Self Addressed Envelope and appropriate funds to cover
return postage ("one greenstamp is sufficient to
cover the A$1.50 for international mail from
Australia", Alan says; do NOT send IRCs and do NOT
send Australian stamps). Do not send Alan any card for
either VK0MM or AX0LD, which should be routed through
their respective QSL managers.
QSL VIA OZ1ACB ---> Allis is the QSL
manager for OZ7D, OY3QN, OX2K, OX3LG, HS0/OZ1HET,
E44/OZ6ACD, D2EYE as well as for the XP1AB operation
during the next CQ WW SSB Contest [425DXN 537]. Cards can
be sent either direct (Allis Andersen, Kagsaavej 34,
DK-2730 Herlev, Denmark) or through the OZ bureau. [TNX
OZ1ACB]
UE0LLH ---> Due to bad sea and
weather conditions the UE0LLH team (namely Dima/RA0LQ,
Lex/RU0LM and Mike/UA0MF) was unable to land on Skryplyov
Island [425DXN 536]. They operated from the lighthouse
(LH 0435) on Tokarevskiy Island (not IOTA) and made some
2000 QSOs on 18-20 August. [TNX UA0MF]
