NORTH KOREA, P5. A group of Japanese DXer's
who operated XY1HT is expected to be visiting North Korea soon.
It has been heard they will apply for licenses. The Hungarian
couple of Sanyi, HA7VK, aka XU7VK and XU95HA, wife Judit, HA7RJ,
will arrive in Phenjan May 21 and be in the country until the end
of July. Sanyi is trying to obtain permission to operate. P5BK
was spotted on the Japanese DX Packet Cluster 14295 kHz SSB at
0920z.
GRENADA, J3. J37Q and J37P will be active on
20 meter CW through May 7 during their early evening hours.
MARION ISLAND, ZS8. Chris, ZS6RI, is enroute
to Marion Island by ship. He hopes to be active in the WPX CW
contest. 160 to 10 meter CW and SSB is planned for after the
contest, as well as some 6 meter work.
FRANZ JOSEF LAND, R1FJ. Sergey, R1FJZ, will
not be picking up QSL cards from his mail drop until after he
goes off the air in August. Please be patient.
BURUNDI, 9U. Jean-Pierre, 9U/F5FHI, has
changed his call to 9U5DX and has been on 17 meter CW and SSB
from 0800 to 0930z. QSL via F2VX via the REF bureau. Alfredo,
9U/EA1FH, is now signing 9U5CW. And listen for Peter, ON6TT, on
160 and 80 meters during the weekend.
SAINT LUCIA, J6. Listen for the honeymooning
Eric, F5CCO, June 27 to July 4. QSL via home call.
REUNION ISLAND, FR. Bernd, DL1VJ, and Heinz,
F5NRG, will sign TO3R during the CQ WW WPX CW Contest May 25 and
26. Before and after the contest they will sign FR/home calls.

ARUBA, P4. Tom, K8CX, will sign P43WLP until
April 27. QSL via K8CX.
SVALBARD, JW. Rag, OZ8RO, will be active as
JW5HE May 1 to 5 and will focus on 30, 17 and 12 meters.
ISRAEL, 4X. The 4X6TU beacon is on the air
from Tel Aviv on 14100, 18110, 21150, 24930 and 28200 kHz. 4X6TU
joins ZS6DN, LU4AA and YV5B on these frequencies.
IRAQ, YI. Tom, YI9CW, continues to be active
daily from Baghdad. Check 7007, 14007, 21007 and 28007 kHz. He
operates 30, 17 and 12 meters from time to time. Tom returns to
Poland sometime after the end of May. QSL via Tom Rogowski,

COCO ISLAND, TI9. Listen for the TI9X
DXpedition to start Friday or Saturday.
ALAND ISLANDS, OH0. Dave, K8MN, plans to be
on the air from Friday, April 26 at around 2200z through Sunday
about 1300z. He will operate CW, SSB and RTTY. His CW will be at
least 25 kHz up from the band edge to give the General and
Advanced class operators a chance. QSL via WA8JOC.
COCOS-KEELING ISLAND, VK9C. Ops VK4FW,
VK2IVK, VK4DHM, and perhaps others will be active May 18 to 31.
They will operate mostly SSB, though some CW is possible. QSL via
VK4FW, Bill Horner, 26 Iron Street, Gympie, QLD 4570, Australia.
MACQUARIE ISLAND, VK0. Warren, VK0WH, can be
found working 40 meter CW on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday. Check
around 7009 kHz between 1000 and 1100z. He sometimes shows up on
14038 or 14260 kHz with his QSL Manager. QSL VK9NS.
ANGUILLA, VP2E. JH4IFF and JH4EZI will sign
VP2EFF and VP2EZI, respectively, April 29 to May 3, all
bands/modes. JH4IFF may sign FS/N2HNQ in Saint Martin afterwards.
SENEGAL, 6W. F5OGL, aka S92AA, S92PI, TR8GL
and TR0D, will be QRV for two years from Dakar starting sometime
in July. CW, SSB and RTTY are planned for this all band activity.

SABLE ISLAND, CY0. The 1996 Sable DXpedition,
CY0AA, operation has been extended to 15 days, June 18 to July 2.
QSL HF contacts via WD8SDL. QSL VHF contacts via VE9AA. Listen
for Dan, WA4DAN/CY0, Bob, KW2P/CY0 and Ron, AA4VK/CY0 during the
first week of October.
MINAMI TORISHIMA, JD1. JG8BQI/JD1 is QRV most
weekends. QSL via JA8CJY.
IWO JIMA, JD1. JH2ENF/JD1 is on the air from
the Kazan Archipelago about 250 km south of the Ogasawara
Islands, operating mostly CW.
THIS WEEKEND ON THE RADIO. The Helvetia
Contest, Nebraska and South Carolina QSO Parties, QRP to the
Field and YU DX Contest are on the activities menu for this
