5R, MADAGASCAR. Gerard, F2JD
(ex-S79JD/5Z4JD/5V7JG etc....) has received his licence and will
begin operating as 5R8EN. He will stay in Malagasy until
September. He plans to work with a long wire and he will improve
his antenna system very soon. Gerard was heard over the weekend
on 21019 kHz around 0905z. QSL via F6AJA.
9G, GHANA. Joe, N1OCS, will be on business in
Navrongo from March 12-24th. He will be in Accra before going on
to Navrongo and he hopes to be able to operate from the club
station in the late evening of March 12th (local time). Once in
Navrongo, Joe hopes to have his modest 100 watt station (using a
dipole) operational by March 14th (work permitting). His
suggested frequencies (+/- QRM):
9M8, EAST MALAYSIA (UPDATE). As reported in
OPDX.244, Andrea, DL3ABL, and Michael, DL6MHW, will be active in
Sarawak from the 14th to 26th of March. Both have now received
their licenses and they hope to be on the air on the evening of
the 14th of March. Look for 9M8AD (Andrea, DL3ABL) and 9M8MH
(Michael, DL6MHW) to be active on CW and SSB on the following
suggested times and frequencies: 3507 (3501) from 1930-2100z,
7007/7064 from 1700-2200z, 10101 (10107) from 1600-1700z,
14007/14195 from 1400- 1600z, 18073/18127, 21007/21295 and 24895
kHz. The frequencies and the scheduled times are without
warranty. Everything depends on local and band conditions plus

A3, TONGA. Morten, LA9GY, will operate from
here March 16th through April 4th. His callsign will most likely
be A35GY, but it has not been issued yet. His main mode of
operation will be CW, but he will be active on SSB from time to
time. He will make a special effort on the low bands, 160-30
meters. Morten will also take part in the CQWW WPX SSB Contest.
Suggested frequencies:
EV, BELARUS. The BARTG GB2ATG News reports
the special event station EV10D is on the air to mark 10 years
anniversary since the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station disaster.
Activity reported on the Ohio/Penn Network show this station has
been operating mainly on 20 meters SSB and RTTY.
FT5, CROZET ISLAND. FT5WE was heard begging
for calls on 40 meters this past weekend around 7005 kHz between
1400 and 1700z. Activity was also on 30 meters. QSL via F5GTW,

HAM, HUNGARY (Attention Prefix Hunters). Some
Hungarians are using the additional prefix letter "M"
to celebrate 1100 years since foundation of the state (ex.
HAM3HV, HAM5AWH, HAM5JI, HAM8RJ, HAM9SU...). Their length of
activity with this prefix is unknown at this time.
HC8, GALAPAGOS ISLANDS. Shun, a doctor of
veterinary medicine, JF1MGI is now on Galapagos Islands for
animal research and will stay there until the end of March. He
will be on the air during his free time. Shun's callsign and band
activity was not passed on. OPDX hopes to have an update on
details.
JW, SVALBARD. Erik, SM0AGD, and John, SM0DJZ,
will make a visit here and will be active from March 14-18th.
Activity will be mainly on 80, 40 and 30 meters with operations
mainly on CW, but there will be some RS-12, SSB and RTTY
operations also. They plan to participate in BARTG-RTTY-Contest.
Their callsigns will be JW/homecall, and QSL to their homecalls.
(PLEASE NOTE: SM0AGD is only good in 1996 CB! SM0AGD, Vestagatan
27, S-19556 Marsta, Sweden.)
KH2, GUAM. Seiji, JH6RTO will be active as
AH0AV/KH2 from April 11-14th. He will concentrate on 10 and 17
meters except during the JIDX Contest hours. QSL via homecall,
Seiji Fukushima, 2-183-A207, Soubudai, Zama City 228, Japan.
KH0, MARIANA ISLANDS. Jun, JH4RHF, will be on
a business trip to Saipan from March 10-18th. He plans to be
active as KH2S/KH0. Two other operators will be with him, but Jun
does not know their callsigns at this time. Look for him on 40 or
80 meters around 10-1600z. QSL to his home call: Junichi Tanaka
Ph.D. JH4RHF, P.O. Box 61 Toyonaka, Osaka 560 JAPAN The DXNL
reports that Allen, KN6AH, plans to be active as KH0/KN6AH from
March 15-30th. He wants to work especially on 40, 20, and 15
meters and on nets on 20 meters. QSL direct only via callbook.
PY0, TRINDADE ISLAND. Mendonca, PY1UP, will
be signing PY0TI until June 12th (or around this date). He
continues to be active on all bands SSB/CW, using a 100w
transceiver and a multiband wire antenna. His most updated QSL
information is: Joao Batista G. Memdonca, Rua Alfredo Backer 536,
apto 1101 Bloco 05 - Alcantara, 24452-000 Sao Goncalo - RJ,
Brazil. In the past Mendonca has had problems regarding mail
violation, but he states this problem has been solved. He has
written a letter to the post office top Director in Brasilia
about the postal violations and the post office Director has
fired and transferred personnel based in PY1UP's post office.
Since then, Mendonca has not seen any mail violations and states
he has been sending the logs to the continent and cards are being
answered even before he gets back.

A message from our "Bavarian Contest Club"
states cards for the TK2C operation in the 1995 CQWW
DX-Contest SSB and CW are now printed and will be send
out within the next few weeks. QSL Manager is DF7RX
(direct or via the bureau)......
ST, SUDAN. Claus (ex-9G1AP and 9N1AP) is
currently active as ST1AP. He was heard on 14178 kHz around
2215z, but he can also be found on the MAR net at 0745z on 14332
kHz.
TM5, FRANCE. The radio club station
"Sciences ET Techniques Nancy" (F6KIM) will be active
on 160-10 meters during the CQWW WPX SSB Contest with the special
call TM5Z. The team will be composed with all members of 1993 AIX
Island DXpedition (Pascal/F5LEN, Bruno/F5NGZ, Pascal/F5PTM and
Herve/F5RMY). A special QSLs will be available only via bureau!
ZF, CAYMAN ISLANDS. John, NC8V, will be
operating as ZF2JC/ZF8 from Little Cayman Island (NA-016) from
March 15-21st. The operation will be mostly around the IOTA
frequencies and mostly SSB, but he will try to switch to CW upon
request. QSLs go to his home call NC8V (Good in any callbooks

ZK1, SOUTH COOK ISLAND. Bruce/AA8U,
Stanley/K8MJZ and Marilyn/AG8W will be going to Rorotonga for the
IARU Radiosport Contest in July of this year. They plan to be
active on all HF bands from July 11-20th. They intend to focus
activity on 160 and 80M outside the contest period so look for
them at your sunrise. The contest callsign will be ZK1AAU. Also,
look for ZK1MJZ and ZK1AGW to be active before and after the
contest period SSB and CW. QSL to Bruce Lallathin AA8U, 9221 Ford
Rd., Rives Junction, MI 49277 (include appropriate SASE).
ZS8, MARION ISLAND. Chris, ZS5IR/ZS6RI, will
be active as ZS8IR from May until June or July 1997. His planned
activity will be on 160-6 meters with operations on CW, SSB and
RTTY. QSL ZS6EZZ.

Use the VOICE or FAX answering machine at 216-237-8208 which
shares the same phone line as BARF-80 BBS using a data/fax/phone
switch. To access: 1) Dial Number. 2) Wait for first ring (the
second ring should be a false ring from the fax/data switch box)
and then dial four quick ones ("1111"). (NOTE: Some FAX
machines that send single "BEEPS" every second will not
have to do this step.) 3) The phone will pick up and after the
"BEEP" leave your voice message or FAX.
