5N, NIGERIA. The DX New Sheets
report that Pete/W0AW, Mike/N9NS, Joe/K8JP and Vincent/G0LMY,
will be active October 22nd to November 3rd, on CW/RTTY and
satellite RS-12 and AO-13. They will also be active in the CQWW
SSB Contest as 5N9N and are looking for two more operators.
Contact Pete, W0AW, if you're interested. QSL via N2AU direct
only.
5R, MADAGASCAR. Theo, DJ1RL, and
Hans, DK8FB will be active starting on Monday, August the 5th.
Operation will be until the 13th. Theo's callsign will be 5R8EY,
and he plans to be active as usual in CW with most of his
operations on 160 meters. He will transmit on 1824 kHz and listen
on/between 1830 - 1832 kHz. He knows the window to Europe should
be between 0200 and 0300z, but he is not sure of the window to
North America. If it is not possible to work "Top Band"
because of local QRM/QRN, Theo will be on 80 meters transmitting
on 3502 kHz and listening 2 kHz up. Hans's callsign is 5R8EZ, and
he will be active mainly on SSB with operations on 10/15/20
meters. QSL via homecalls direct or via bureau. Addresses are:

5R, MADAGASCAR. Jean Michel will
visit Gerard, 5R8EN, between August 18th and September 8th. He
will operate as a guest operator or with a personal call sign.
During this period Jean Michel and Gerard will try to go to Nosy
Bé (IOTA AF-057).
CHANGEOVER. According to the
ARRL Letter Electronic Update, dated August 2, 1996: "New DX
Bulletin, DX Magazine publishers: Paul and Nancy Smith, AE4AP
& KB4RGW respectively, will take over the DX Bulletin and the
DX Magazine from Chod Harris, VP2ML. The changeover is supposed
to happen within a few weeks. The Smiths already produce The
GOLIST, QSL Manager List and The DX Reporter." The Smiths

EL, LIBERIA. Carl, K4YT/DL4YT,
has plans to be active for 2 to 3 weeks from Monrovia, starting
August 12th. His callsign was not mentioned. QSL to homecall.
FK, NEW CALEDONIA. Hiro, JE5WIM,
plans to be active mainly on CW from August 10-14th. QSL via
homecall.
IOTA NEWS...
EU-73 EU-091. Tony, IK8VRH, Dom, IK8TWP and Tony, IW8BVN,
will activate these two IOTA, August 10-24th. The group
will use the callsign IK8TWP/IJ7. Activity will be on
20/40 meters CW/SSB. QSL to IK8VRH via bureau or via
direct only at new address: Tony Bosso, Via Adda 57
(Parco Gaio), 80016 Marano -Na- Italy.
AS-081. Maemul Island in South Korea will be activated by
Dongah University Amateur Radio Club in Pusan, Korea from
August 9-12th. The call HL0BDU/5 will be used and please
QSL to HL0BDU direct or via bureau.
NA-067. NODXA members Jim, KF8VX, and Cathie, KG8QL, will
be returning to Okracoke Island off the North Carolina
coast the week of August 18-24. QSL to home calls.
Domestic please SASE. Foreign SASE or SAE & IRC or
such. All DX will be QSLed 100% by bureau 60 days after
they return if not direct.
IOTA ON THE SATELLITES. A group
of operators will activate Bendor Island (IOTA EU-095) from
August 8-12th, using the callsign TM5BEN. This island is located
in the Provence Cote d'Azur Group. They will be active on all
modes and HF bands (using the IOTA suggested frequencies), but
also the satellites. Check 144.220, 432.250 and 1296.200 (SSB)
MHz for terrestrial contacts. QSL via F5PVX direct or bureau.
JW, SVALBARD (More info and YLs!). Last
week we mentioned that YL Unni, JW6RHA, would once again operate
from here starting August 2nd through the 10th. She will be
joined by two other YL operators Inger, JW8KT, and Turid, JW9THA.
Some of their operations will be on a Kenwood TS-50 and Ten-Tec
Scout transceivers, dipole antennas, and limited battery power.
Suggested frequencies: 7048, 14248, 21248, and 28500 kHz SSB with
possibility of some CW operation on 80-10 meters subbands. QSL to
JW6RHA via LA6RHA, JW8KT via LA8KT and JW9THA via LA9THA.
KH4, MIDWAY ISLAND DXPEDITION.
The August 1996 DXpedition to the Midway Atoll National Wildlife
Refuge, (KH4 and IOTA OC-030), is pleased to announce that the
operation will now include satellite modes. Joining the team as
satellite operator is Pat Guerin, NH6UY, of Honolulu who is well
experienced in satellite operating from a number of other Pacific
DXpeditions. The rest of the team includes AH0W/OH2LVG, W2UE,
UA3AB and WA7LNW. QSL route for the Midway operation is Bob
Johnson, KE7LZ.
KH6, HAWAIIAN ISLANDS. Eric,
WB9PTN, will be on Maui from August 10-22th, signing WB9PTN/KH6.
He will operate mainly on the WARC bands, and he will also try
some low bands. He will also operate in the NA QSO Party. QSL via
96 CBA or via WB9PGB.
TK, CORSICA. Paul, F2YT, will be
active as TK/F2YT from August 18th to September 2nd. He will also
try to be active from some coastal island.
V21, ANTIGUA (Now active on 6 meters!).
A member of "Team Antigua", Alan, V21BF is now active
on 6 meters. He states that there hasn't been any steady
operation from Antigua for quite some time and is looking forward
to helping everyone who needs a QSO on 6 meters from Antigua.

USI ALERT! Those who chase USI
(United States Island Award Program), be looking for Pat, N0NYG,
and Dave, K9FXH, to be active from a new Illinois island for USI

YK, SYRIA. The DXNL reports 20
operators (OMs/XYLs) from Germany will sign YK0B during the first
week of October. Not only will this group operate on CW/SSB, but
the group plans to also work on RTTY and the satellites. QSLs via
DL8HCZ.
