P.O. Box 123, Tbilisi 380 004, Republic of Georgia. DO NOT use
the old address: P.O. Box 1 Tbilisi , 380002 GEORGIA.

BS7, SCARBOROUGH REEF. In a news release by
Tim, N4GN, he reports: "Planning for the BS7H 1997
DXpedition to Huang Yan Dao (Scarborough Reef) is proceeding on
schedule. Several team members, including Wang, BA1OK and Kan,
JA1BK, met recently in Guangzhou to finalize all details
regarding the ship with Captain Wang Jian-xi and his crew.
Arrangements were also made for generators, fuel, food and the
numerous other supplies necessary to ensure the success of the
operation. The BS7H 1997 operating team has now been finalized:
Wang/BA1OK (Team Leader), Gong/BA1DU, Chen/BA4RC, Wang/BD4RX,
Jian/BD7JG, Zhang/BG7KW, Kan/JA1BK, Kazuo/JA1RJU, Wayne/N7NG,
Jim/W6EU (ex-WA6AUE) and Bob/W6RGG. Brief "bios" on
each of the operators will be added to the BS7H 1997 Home Page (http://www.iglou.com/n4gn/sr/)
very soon. Recent additions to the Home Page include a map
showing the location of Scarborough Reef and a sketch of the reef
itself, indicating the rough position of each of the operating
sites. Some interesting comments from Bob, NM7M, regarding
propagation between Scarborough Reef and the eastern half of the
U.S. have also been added to the Home Page. Check it out!"
EA8 & EA9, CANARY ISLANDS AND CEUTA (WPX
20-meter shootout). Pekka, OH1RY, and Martti, OH2BH, have decided
to activate EA8AH (Canary Islands) and EA9AM (Ceuta)
respectfully. Both stations will be running single band 20 meters
in the CQWPX SSB, and you may catch them to prior the contest
which is the weekend of March 29-30th. The two well known DXers
want to find out "What is the WORLD'S BEST CONTESTING
QTH?" Both operators will be seeking your observations about
the signals from these two locations particularly at the
beginning and closing of the band from your path. These reports
can be submitted to either of these two operators as an exchange
of immediate QSL and acknowledgement of the report. Those
submitting the reports are entitled to comparison report of these
two locations based on the CQ WPX data. (excerpts from a OH2BH
message)
GU, GUERNSEY. Look for Bob, W7MAE, (ex K7RDH)
to be active this week until April 5th, as MU/W7MAE or GU/W7MAE.
Operations will be on SSB with some activity on RTTY. Look for
him on 20 and 10 meters. QSL to home call.
HC8, GALAPAGOS ISLANDS. Ted, HC5K, will be
active as HC8K on AMTOR, PACTOR, RTTY and SSB. He and another ham
will operate on all bands 160-10 meters. Also, there will be some
satellite operations. Operations are to commence on March 23rd or
could be delayed a couple of days because of transportation. He
will stay for about one week. QSL to: Ted, HC5K/HC8K, P.O.Box DX
Cuenca, Equador (South America).
KH4, MIDWAY ISLAND. Yuu-san, JA3IG, will be
active again from here from April 16-23rd. He will be using his
new extra class callsign, KH4/K1NT. It was reported that
negotiations were touch-and-go with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service since this is the nesting season for the several million
albatrosses that inhabit the island this time of year. The U.S.
Fish and Wildlife Service had some concerns about birds
inadvertently flying into the radio antennas. The ham antennas
which were left on the island from past operations are normally
taken down during the nesting season, but will be put backup
temporarily for this operation. The main bands for this operation
will likely be 80-15 meters. Yuu-san will be looking for Europe
on 40 meters from 0430z-0630z. Yuu-san will be using a windom on
40 and 80 meters.

CQWW WPX SSB Contest on all bands, high power. He will be looking
for Europe on 20 meters 0500-0800z. QSL cards will be shipped

reports that S0RASD will be active from March 27-31st. Operators
include EA2JG, EA3CB, EA3CZM, EA3GBU, EA4TX and S01A. Other
operators may include EA1DAV, EA2CNU and EA4AFA. The will be on
both SSB and CW. They will participate in CQWW WPX SSB. This
DXpedition is sponsored by LYNX DX Group.

TS, TUNISIA (Attention Prefix Hunters!). It
has been reported that Tunisia will be celebrating its 40 years
of independence during the period of April 10th to May 10th. On
this occasion, a special event station will be on the air as
TS40A. Delegations from various amateur radio clubs including the
DARC will participate in the celebrations. Next week another
special callsign (TS8A) will be assigned to 3V8BB between March
26-31st. This special callsign will be used to celebrate the 8
years of presidency of Mr. Ben Ali. Hrane, YT1AD, will be using
this callsign during the WPX contest. The newly founded
Association of Tunisian Radio Amateurs (ASTRA) is appling for
IARU membership, and it will probably take place at the "Ham
Radio 1997" fair in Friedrichshafen/Germany in June. ADDED
NOTE: Guest operations from 3V8BB may only be authorized by the
DARC foreign department after written applications. The DARC
coordinates the dates of operation.
USI ALERT. The Ascension DX Group from
Gonzales, LA., will be on Grand Isle, LA., from April 11-13th,
operating 24 hours/day. Operators will be Wayne/N5VWM, Don/AA5AT,
Joe/KA5RNH, Stew/KB5RZY, Lee/W5ZDW, Richie/W5XV and others to be
announced later. Grand Isle counts for IOTA NA-168 and USI Award
LA-003S. Listen for Wayne and Don to activate several NEW islands
(about 6-7) for the USI Award in the same area as well. QSL via
operators home call or via E-QSL. The operations will take place
on all bands CW/SSB. In the weeks coming up, look for Don and
Wayne to be activating more new islands from around the state of
Louisiana from time to time.
V4, ST. KITTS & NEVIS. The
"DXNS" report that Jim, G0IXC, will be active next
month between April 9-30th, as V47XC from Hurricane Cove.
Activity will be SSB on 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters with a dipole
and tri-band yagi. QSL to home call.

Izmir, March 25-31st. They will take part in the CQWW WPX SSB
Contest and have the permit to use the special callsign YM3DL
throughout their stay. Their host in Izmir will be Mustafa, TA3B.
They plan to be active outside the contest with operations on all
bands 80-10 meters including the WARC bands with a special
emphasis on 30 and 40 and 80 meters (160m is still not sure).
Although they are aware of the fact that only few DXers need TA
as a new one they would be happy to add some bandpoints to your
collection. The QSLs for YM3DL go via DL4VBP, direct or via the
bureau. If you prefer to send any cards via the postal service,
please use only the following address that is also listed
correctly in the 1997 Flying Horse callbook as well as in the QRZ
callsign database. Please remember: The fee for an airmail letter
that is sent outside Europe from Germany is 3 DM; that is about 2
US green stamps.
ZD7, ST HELENA (More activity). ZD7BG was
heard on 14010 kHz at 2100z. QSL via POB 157, St. Helena. John,
ZD7WRG, was heard on 14205 kHz at 1920z.
