5H, TANZANIA. Harald, DL7VSN,
informs OPDX that he will be traveling to Uroa/Zanzibar from
September 7-27th. He has already received his licence from the
Tanzanian Communication Commission. The callsign he will use is
5H/DL7VSN. He added that Fabio, 5H1FS/I4UFH, was the last person
to receive a real Tanzanian callsign for a temporary stay. Harald
plans to be active on 80-10 meters mostly in CW. If conditions
are right (along with the palmtrees and other factors), he will
also try to be active on 160 meters. QSLs are OK via the bureau.
After his travel, Harald will publish the log on his WEB
homepage: http://home.t-online.de/home/0309314613-0001/dl7vsn.htm
5X, UGANDA (160 meters!). Paul,
5X4F, states, "Yes I'm still set up for 160. The band is
very noisy yet. I will start listening 30 minutes before sunrise
after September 9. Sunrise is approx. 0350z on the 9th and 0346z
on the 30th. I also get on some times between 2300-2400z, if I'm
not too tired. My usual frequency is 1.824."
A4, OMAN. The "DX News
Sheet" reports that Chris, SP5EXA (ex A71CW), will be going
to Oman on September 11th where he will be active for the next
five years. He is currently waiting for a licence.
A4, OMAN (ROARS 25th ANNIVERSARY).
The Royal Omani Amateur Radio Society (ROARS) will celebrate its
25th Anniversary (Silver Jubilee) from October 1st to December
31st. All A4 stations should use their callsigns followed by /SJ
to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Society. The Society
will be operating a Special Event Station at their site on
Athaiba Beach under the callsign A43XXV during the period from
December 17-21st. To commemorate their Silver Jubilee, the
Society has introduced the "ROARS Silver Jubilee Award"
for the Radio Amateurs worldwide. ADDED NOTE: Details on this
award will be sent to all OPDX InterNet Subscribers (Thanks to
4X6UO).
A6, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.
"The Daily DX" reports that David, K3LP, will be

will be on all bands CW and SSB. David will also be an entry in
the CQ World Wide CW DX Contest as a single operator on all bands
with two rigs. QSL for this operation only to K3LP (ex AA6DC.)
AP, PAKISTAN (Update). Hiro,
JA1EZM, continued to be active as AP2AP despite the message put
out by the PARS stating he was not properly licensed (refer to
OPDX.318). However, Jun, JA7SSB, states he has talked to Hiro and
he insists that his license is good. Hiro will expand his
operations during September.

27-28th). He will try to use more than 150w during this contest,
but he has a problem with power lines. Eddie will use 3 diferents
modems, 3 diferents DSP filters, 3 diferent computers, and he
will be able to receive on 3 diferents stations on different
frequencies at the same time. He suggests to PLEASE BE PATIENT,
he knows that most people need FS in RTTY and he will do his
best.
HV, VATICAN. With the efforts of
IK0FVC and I0JBL, look for HV4NAC to be active during the 1997
CQWW RTTY Contest (Sept. 27-28). Other operators will include

bulletins report that Vance's, W5IJU, request for landing

dangerous conditions on the island".
QSL INFO AND NEWS....
Michael Taylor, NF4W, of South Carolina (USA), states he
would like to become a QSL manager for any DX station. He
also states he has plenty of free time on his hands and
could handle the bulk and would guarantee 24 hour turn
around to U.S. stations once contact was confirmed by the
DX station's log. Use of E-mail for log confirmation
would be preferred. If you are interested, Michael can be
reached via E-mail at: nf4w@mindspring.com
Declan, EI6FR, from the WestNet DX Group, informs
everyone he is still awaiting the delivery of the
GI/EI7NET Rathlin Island (EU-122) QSL cards. These cards
are being printed in Italy by IK1MPL. As soon as he has
the cards he will immediately answer the direct requests
followed shortly thereafter by a bureau posting to all
stations in the log. "Thank you for your continued
patience," Best 73's de Declan EI6FR
All direct QSL requests for HP1XBI/4 for Bocas del Toro
(IOTA NA088) have been sent out.
F6BFH states he has sent all direct QSL requests for
G/F6BFH from Scilly Isles operation (during last July)
have been sent out.
F5LGQ states he has sent all direct QSL requests out for
XT2DB.
QSLs for OL7HQ (IARU HF Contest 1997) go to QSL Manager
OK1MD via the bureau or direct: Mlados Doucha, OK1MD,
Kodanska 87, CZ-10100 Praha 10, Czech Rep.
CO8TW can now be QSLed via W3HNK, Joe Arcure, P.O. BOX
73, Edgemont, PA 19028. Juan, CO8TW, can still be
contacted at: Juan Carlos Veranes, PO BOX 8, Santiago de
Cuba CP 90100, CUBA or via InterNer E-mail at: co8tw@co8rci.uo.edu.cu
Didier, F5NZO, states he is still QSL Manager for FT4YD
(1991), FT5XL (1997), PA/F5KBF (1992) and also OY/ TF/
and TF7/F6AMI (1991). He can be reached via E-mail at F5NZO@AOL.COM.
WP2Z, the Windwood Contest Station on St. Croix, USVI, is
a very active ham radio rental property which normally
has a different operator for each major contest. This
means that there is usually a different QSL Manager for
each operation. Well, the QSL confusion may have come to
an end. Steve Wheatley, KU9C, has agreed to become the
QSL Manager for WP2Z. Please QSL all future WP2Z
operations via KU9C. They hope that directing all QSL
requests to one manager will end the confusion regarding
WP2Z QSL routes. Please forward all WP2Z QSL requests to
Steve at either: POB 5953, Parsippany, NJ 07054 or via
the bureau.
QSL Online! The following was written by Goran, SM0DRD:
"An interesting idea is developing at SK0UX. You may
search logs for your QSOs and then download QSLs
immediately to your own printer. We believe this is a
first and the concept has already generated a lot of
interest. The potential savings are enormous. We have
already received requests from hams who want to set up
their own QSL Servers and have one beta test site in the
works. QSLs special event calls which we have used are
SK0HQ and SK0RQ as well as club members are also
available. During the CQ WW CW in November, we will make
a field test on making QSLs from our expedition to Cuba
(T48RCT) available within hours after your contact! Logs
will be 'uploaded' to Sweden to the QSL Server via AMTOR.
This concept conserves trees, time, and many other good
things. Check it out for yourself at http://ham.te.hik.se/clubs/sk0ux.
The QSLs are typografically the same as a 'snail-mailed'
card and may have pictures. Suggestions are very welcome
since new possibilities are developing almost daily,
E-mail to: goran@tjansteforbundet.se."
T9, BOSNIA (Update). Kent, WT0Q,
has sent the following update to the information that was
reported in OPDX.319 last week. QSLs for T9/WT0Q need to go to
his home call, WT0Q, which is okay in all callbooks for the past
5 years. Dale, N2NDY (T9/N2NDY), needs his QSLs sent to DA2DM,
his German call, where he will return to this fall. Dale is
currently using a dipole at 50 feet with an MFJ Tuner. His radio
is a TS-450SAT. Kent is using an IC-761 into a Hygain DX77
vertical at 8 feet, also via an MFJ tuner. They will be on the
air as their respective schedules permit for the next 4 to 8
weeks.
TJ, CAMEROON. Cecil, NW8F, who
is the QSL Manager for Mark, TJ1US (ex-J5UAI), provides the DX
community with the following schedule which will be Fridays only
for now with Saturday coming at a later date:
Nothing has been mentioned about 160 meters yet, but Scott,
K8SM, is in communication with NW8F to help or advise in
obtaining something for 160 meters. For those of you that have
interest in 160 and would like to help Mark get some kind of
antenna, contact NW8F@JUNO.COM.

and 20 meters, CW and SSB. QSL via DK8ZD.
