5B4, CYPRUS. The "DX News
Sheet" reports that a Russian group consisting of Val/RZ3TX,
Andy/UA3DPX, RA9JX, RZ9UA, UA9NN and UA9ND will be active now
until July 15th as 5B4/homecall and as P3A in the IARU HF
Championship. QSL via W3HNK. ALso, "The 59(9) DXReport"
states Steve/G3VMW and Bob/G3ZEM will sign 5B4/homecall between
July 21st through August 5th from Paphos. QSL via homecalls.
AFRICAN DXPEDITION TOUR.
Charlie, W0YG, leaves Wednesday for South Africa where he will
spend a week before going on to Botswana and Zimbabwe. He will
probably start his A2 activity on July 18th. Charlie expects to
start his Z2 activity on July 22nd. He will then head back to A2
on August 7th and stay until August 22nd. Charlie currently holds
V5/ZS6YG, A22/W0YG and Z21/W0YG licenses. Look for him to be
active mainly on 40-10 meters CW with special attention on the
WARC bands. There may be some RTTY activity. QSL via W0YG only
(REPEAT, ONLY W0YG, not the ZS bureau).
CARIBBEAN TOUR. Rob/PA3ERC and
Ronald/PA3EWP have announced they will be active from Montego
Bay, Jamaica (6Y) between August 27th and September 8th, using
the callsigns 6Y5/PA3ERC and 6Y5/PA3EWP. They will also be active
from Leeward, Cayman Islands (ZF) September 8-20th, using the
callsigns ZF2RC and ZF2WP. They plan to have two stations on the
air operational on 160-10 meters. Operations are planned to be
active on the modes CW, SSB and RTTY. Also, 6 meters will be
activated when propagation permits. They will focus mainly on the
WARC bands and the low bands for Europe during their grayline.
Both locations will have an excellent takeoff to the US and

Rob, PA3ERC, will be the QSL manager. QSLs can be sent via the

EI, IRELAND. Look for Graham,
M0AEP, in the coming weeks (July 18th-August 1st) to be active as
EI/M0AEP from Kenmare River in County Kerry. His activity will be
on CW and SSB.
FG, GUADELOUPE. Baldur, DJ6SI,
is currently active as FG/DJ6SI. The length of his operation is
unknown at this time. His activity is usually CW. His activity
seems to be on all bands including the WARC bands. QSL via his
homecall.
FO0, AUSTRAL ISLANDS. Joel,
F5JJW, will once again sign as FO0SUC between October 7-17th. He
will be on Tubuai Island (IOTA OC-152). His activity will be
mostly on 14, 21, 28 MHz.
GU0, GUERNSEY ISLAND (A change
in plans). A group calling themselves "Golden Spur Section
KTK - Kortrijk" of the UBA, who were planning to activate
the Minquiers Reef IOTA EU-099 in the forthcoming IOTA Contest at
the end of July, have changed their plans due to a conflict by
another team that was going to EU-099. The reef is too small for
two operations to take place. The Belgium team will now activate
Guernsey Island, IOTA EU-114, before, during and after the IOTA
contest this year. The team will commence activities on Thursday,
July 23rd, or Friday, July 24th, terminating on Monday 27th or
Tuesday 28th. There will be a team comprised of ON5SY/Harvey
(leader), a cook-SWL Ronny, ON4AVA/Wilfried, ON4CHS/Lieven,
ON4ON/Danny, ON6HH/Roland, ON7PQ/Pat and ON9CGB/Bill. They expect
to use the callsign GU0MEU during the contest and possibly GB0ON,
GU/personal, or call/p outside the contest period. They will
operate on all contest bands in the contest and will concentrate
on the WARC bands outside the contest using SSB and CW. QSL via
ON bureau via ON4ON for all the callsigns from GU.
HR6, HONDURAS. Joe, VE3BW, will
be returning to Roatan Island (NA-057) as VE3BW/HR6 for two weeks
in October. He will arrive on the island on October 18th, and be
active until November 1st. He plans to be active in the CQWW SSB
Contest and will be active on CW and 6 meters before and after

IOTA NEWS....
NEW IOTA'S! Alan Kung, BA1DU, IOTA Program Manager of the
Beijing DX Club, reports that the Beijing DX Club plans
to be active as BI4C from Changxing Island (AS-???) on
July 13-14th, and as BI5Z from Zhoushan Island (AS-???)
on July 16-17th. Changxing Island is located in 121.7E,
31.4N. Zhoushan Island is located in 122.2E, 30.1N. They
will be on 20, 15, 10, 6 and 2 meters, using a FT-990,
IC-706MK2, 1KW HF linear amplifier, 2 meters linear
amplifier, A3S, 6 meters and 2 meters beams. The team
consists of Tong/BA1AA, Alan/BA1DU, Jerry/BA1FB,
Ban/BA1MK, Fan/BD1RB, Jin/BA4TA, Qian/BD4DC, Shen/BD4DI
and Shu/BD4DQ. QSL via Mac/W3HC. For more information,

AN-017. F6ICA and F5GLS will be on from Adelie Land in
the Antarctica from December, 1998, for one year and they
will be active on all bands.
EU-048. Jean, F8CIO, will be active from Houat Island
from August 1-8th. He will be active on 20 and 40 meters
on SSB.
EU-096. 1996 IOTA Contest winners OH1MDR, OH1NOA and
OH1MM will again activate Sandstrom Reef for the 1998
IOTA Contest, July 25-26th. The callsign will be
OH0MDR/1. Special attention will be given to the IOTA
hunters in NA and JA. The target is to make even more
than last year's 2700+ QSOs. QSL via OH1MDR. More info is

EU-105 and EU-157. David, ON4BDS, reports that activity
from Batz (EU-105) will take place and he hopes to be on
the island Monday evening, July 20th. He will stay on the
island until the July 23th, where he will leave for
Cezembre (EU-157) around noon. Activity from Cezembre
will last a couple of days, including the IOTA contest,
where he will return from the island on Monday, July
27th.
EU-107 and EU-156. Due to some unforseen problems
obtaining landing permissions, David, ON4BDS, will not be
able to activate EU-107. Permission for EU-156 Tombelaine
is still pending, and he is trying to obtain permission
to land on Tombelaine. David states, "Obtaining
permission for Les Sept Iles EU-107 seems to be virtually
impossible."
EU-167. Samuel, CT1EEN, reports everything is a
"GO" for this rare IOTA called Pessegueiro.
Details have been worked out with the "Wildlife
People". The operation should start at 0000z on
Friday, July 24th, with the team of operators using their
own callsigns/ portable. The call CQ2P will only be used
during the IOTA Contest. For more details, see OPDX.357

SA-037. Ray, DL2GG, reports that from July 10-14th he and
others will be active from La Blanquilla Island in the
Caribbean Sea. Their callsign will be YW5LB, and they
will work CW and SSB on all bands.
KH6, HAWAII. Marco, IK0PHY, will
travel here to be active as KH6/IK0PHY between July 13-23rd. QSL
via homecall.
OJ0, MARKET REEF. Seppo/OH1VR
and Jorma/OH2KI, will activate OJ0VR from July 9-12th. Their
activity will be on CW, SSB, and maybe some RTTY. QSL via OH1VR:

OPDX INTERNET SUBSCRIBERS will

PACIFIC HOLIDAY AND ACTIVITY.
Five members of FEDXP (Far East DX-Ploiters), which included
JA1BRK, JA1HGY, JR1MLU, JA4DND and 7N3AWE, will activate the
Belau Republic (T88) and Guam Island (KH2) as their summer DX
Vacation. Their activity from T88 land will be between July
16-18th, using the callsigns T88AD (JR1MLU), T88AJ (7N3AWE),
T88HG (JA1HGY), T88ND (JA4DND), and T88RK (JA1BRK). The KH2 Guam
Island activity will be between July 19-21st, using the callsigns
homecall/KH2. Activities will be on 160-10 meters plus 6 meters,
SSB, CW and RTTY from two separated stations. They will
concentrate on the WARC bands. QSL via their home callsigns.
QSL INFO AND NEWS....
Joe, VE3BW, reports he keeps receiving QSLs for 8P9CW
where he was the operator of this station in 1987 (ONLY).
This callsign has been reissued at least six times to
various operators. Please be advised to "PLEASE
CHECK THE DATES OF THE OPERATION" before QSLing.
W7A QSL ROUTE CORRECTION/CHANGE. W7A special event
callsign from Great Falls, Montana, was published a few
weeks back with the QSL Manager as KQ7K, but his address
is incorrect in the RAC callbooks. The manager for this
event will now be W7WK either via bureau or direct with

SV9/OH9MM/P QSLS. Juha, OH1KAG/OH9MM/OH0KAG, states that
he will have a special 4 color QSL printed for his recent
operation. He made 2000 QSOs, most of them on 40/30/20
meters CW (with a coulpe hundred Q's on RTTY). He
reported having some TVI/RFI problems. By the way, we
mentioned Juha's callsign in OPDX.360 as OK1KAG which was
incorrect (Sorry, Juha!).
CHANGE IN ADDRESS. Nishi, V63AO, has reported to David,
VK3EW, that he has moved from Pohnapei Island to Kosrae
Island within the V63 Group. He requests to please no
longer send QSL cards to his old address as this PO BOX
IS CLOSED. All QSLs now for V63AO should be sent to: Mr
Nishi Nishimura, PO BOX 607, Kosrae, Micronesia 96944,
U.S.A.
KH1 QSLs and others. Mac, WA4FFW/NH1, reports that all
the QSLs for the "Eric Edberg W6DU Memorial
Dxpedition" have been mailed July 3rd. This included
all QSL cards for K4AU/WH1, WA4FFW/NH1, N4DAZ/KH3 and
N4BQW/KH5K. Mac also reports that with the great effort
of Joe/N4DAZ and Gene/WJ4T, all the cards for N4BQW/KH5,
KH6 (Tern Is.) KH7K and KH4 are also caught up and were
mailed July 3rd. This includes all Bureau cards received
to date. Mac reminds everyone that Ron, AC7DX, is the
route for KA4IST/KH5. Thanks to all for their patience.
TF, ICELAND. We have been asked
to remind everyone that TF3IRA will be operational on July
12-13th during the IARU Contest from the TF HQ Station. TF3IRA
has again been granted full power license and the "BIG
OLGA" antenna will be used on lower frequencies. The Clubs
C3 antenna will provide the 20 meters and above QSOs. QSL via
TF3GB.
TL5, CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC
(Update). Alex, PA3DZN, now signing as, TL5A will be on 3504 or
1833 kHz between 2100-2300z and at his sunrise, 0400-0440z. It
was mentioned that his amplifier went dead during last weekend's
RTTY run, so all he has now is a 100 watts until new tubes are
received. He was heard on 14025 khz around 0515z this past
weekend.
V2, ANTIGUA & BARBUDA.
Darrell, AB2E (V26B team), reports to OPDX that he will be here
operating as usual from the V26B superstation site. He will be
active using the callsign V26E between August 6-11th. His
activity will be operating on the WARC and low bands. Darrell
will also be a Single Op in the WAE CW DX Contest which is on
August 8-9th. Later in the year, he will return (November 26th to
December 1st) to be active in the CQWW CW Contest as a Single OP.
He will once again use V26E and be active on the WARC and low
bands before and after the contest. QSL for all V26E operations
are via his home call AB2E.
XO1, FOGO ISLAND (Canada).
Members of the West Island Amateur Radio Club of Montreal are
preparing for their 8th annual summer DXpedition. This year they
will activate Fogo Island, Newfoundland, 54.2 deg. W. Long., 49.7
deg. N. Lat. Fogo Island is IOTA NA-198, Canada Islands NF-05, CQ
Zone 5, and Maidenhead grid square GN-39. The group will be
entering the annual IOTA (Islands on the Air) contest, operating
as a Multi-Op island station from 1200z Saturday, July 25th, to
1200z Sunday, July 26th. A special callsign, XO1CWI, will be
used. It was issued in honor of the Brimstone Head Folk Festival
to be held on Brimstone Head, Fogo Island from August 7-10th.
Suggested frequencies to be used: 3505, 3790, 7025, 7070, 7200,
14005, 14195, 21005, 21310, 28005, 28485, and 50130 kHz.
Operations should begin on July 22nd and continue through July
27th. QSL route is: West Island ARC, P.O. Box 884, Dorval,

ZP0, PARAGUAY. Tom, ZP5AZL,
reports that he will use the special callsign ZP0Z in the
upcoming IARU Contest (July 11-12th). Activity will be on all
bands (if propagation is good). QSL "ONLY" to W3HNK and
not direct to Tom's P.O. Box.
