FP, ST. PIERRE & MIQUELON
(Correction/Update). Last week we mentioned that the Prairie DX

gave the incorrect callsign FP/N9ND. The correct callsign is
FP/N9PD. QSL DIRECT or via Bureau to N9PD (not N9ND as
mentioned). As contacts are made with the stations from around
the world, this activity will be reflected on the group's web
page within minutes. For the first time hams and non-hams around
the world will have the opportunity to view and study the
activities of a DXpedition as it happens. In addition to live
ON-THE-AIR logs, the Prairie DX web site will include Amateur
Radio related links, featured information regarding the islands
of St. Pierre and Miquelon, plus updated photographs and sound
files from the DXpedition. This unique, VIRTUAL DXpedition will
afford hams the opportunity to immediately verify their contact
with a DX station. The PDXG has a Web page available at: http://www.prairiedx.com

QSL INFO AND NEWS.....
Jim Smith, VK9NS, informed OPDX that he has just received
the latest batch of VU2JPS logs from Mani by Registered
Air Mail. Jim states that he will try to clear the
outstanding cards before he leaves for the U.S. He
mentions that he will carry some mail to the USA to be
posted there upon his arrival.
Steve, K2WE (aka 3W6WE and XU2WE), reports all direct
stateside QSLs for the 3W6WE DXpedition to Saigon from
March, 1998, are in the mail. If you have not received
your card by the end of last weekend, please let him know
at "k2we@juno.com"
(It may have been lost in the mail). He has about 50% of
the DX cards done. Anyone who included return postage
will get the card direct via Air Mail. All others will go
via the bureau. The QSL is a full color photo card. The
picture was taken on the roof of the Kasati Building
where the station was located. The picture has Les, W2LK
(3W6LK), on the left, and Steve, K2WE, on the right.
QSLs for special event station JU60MTZ (which celebrated
the 60th anniversary of the Mongolian Railway Board) go
via JT1CJ, Sh.Gankhuyag, P.O.Box 100, Ulaanbaatar-44,
Mongolia.
OJ0AU, which was active July 21-27th logged, 14350 QSOs
from Market Reef (EU-053). This included 2393 QSOs during
the IOTA contest for a claimed score of 5.015.296 points.
They operated with two stations most of the time.
Conditions were disturbed due to an Aurora, but they were
very satisfied with the results. QSLs should be ready in
about 5 weeks. Please send your QSL (please ONLY use this
NEW address) to DL6LAU: Carsten Esch, Kreuzweg 22, 21376
Salzhausen, Germany (direct or via bureau).
WOW!!!! Didi, YB4JIM, reports that a very bad economic
crisis has been taking place in Indonesia, and for the
past few months, all prices have doubled or tripled.
Unfortunately, the effects have included the rise of
postage costs (1000%!). That makes YB-ham's QSLing
activity almost impossible during these hard times.
Sending an IRC or dollars will not do because banks only
take/change a $100 minimum and half postage cost to U.S.
is 20 IRCs!.
XM3/CH3/CI3/VE8 POLAR BEAR DX-PEDITION 98
(CANADA). Just a quick reminder that this operation
takes place next weekend. A group of Canadians have been

Bear Expedition train trip from Toronto to Moosonee (August
15-30th). They will also make a couple of stops on the way using
the special callsigns CH3HBC/325, CI3XXV/25 and either VE8C or
VE8I. For more details, see OPDX.363 (if you lost it, send an
E-mail to the OPDX Archives at "opdx-request@nshore.org"
along with the word "archive" in the
"Subject:" line and then use the following command in
the body of the message:
XU, KAMPUCHEA (Cambodia). Steve,
K2WE (aka 3W6WE and XU2WE), mentioned in his 3W6WE QSL
announcement (above) to watch for an upcoming XU operation later
in the year.

A group of ORARI members will go to Ujung Kulon National Park

the 53th anniversary of Indonesian Independence on August 17,
1998. The operation should be active on August 15th at 0000z and
remain on air until August 17th, at 0500z. The team will operate
on SSB and CW on 160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meter bands. QSL via

during its operation. Fee for certificate is US$ 10.00. Donations

to: mailto:dxuk@hotmail.com
ZF, CAYMAN ISLANDS. Look for
Jim, KD3YK, to be active now until August 14th as ZF2JM. There
have been no QSNs reported over the weekend. Jim plans to operate
QRP CW on 20 and 40 meters. QSL via KD3YK.
