3A, MONACO. "The 59(9)
DXReport" states that Luc, I1YRL, will once again be active
as 3A/I1YRL in October and November. No specific dates were
given. QSL via I1YRL.
7O, YEMEN. Zoli, HA5PP, reported
to OPDX last Thursday that he will be traveling to Sana'a, Yemen,
on Friday, September 18th. KYFC!! (Keep Your Fingers Crossed)
9H0, MALTA. The Dutch Amateur
Radio Society (V.R.Z.A.) has planned their 11th
DXpedition/holiday trip and will be active from here October
3-18th. The group of 24 hams will activate the Island of Qawra
(EU-023) with five HF stations using their own 9H3 callsign on CW
and SSB. A special club station callsign has been issued, 9H0VRZ.
QSL Manager for this station is PA0JR, Andre van den Bos,

9M6, EAST MALAYSIA. Ed, K8EP,
will be operating from the station of 9M6AAC. He will be there
from October 8-11th. Ed will be concentrating on CW but also some
SSB. Operations will be on mostly 40, 20, 17, 15 and 10 meters.
QSL route is via N2OO.
9N, NEPAL. Good news for those
who need Nepal! The "DX News Sheet" reports that the
following operators have been issued new licences in Nepal:
Khatri/9N1AB, Navin Mainali/9N1AC (previously 9N1CW), Mr.
Sunuwar/9N1AD, and Gourish Kharel/9N1AE.
9Y, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO. Members
of the Bavarian Contest Club (BCC) will be active from here
October 15-31st. Operators will be DK6WL, DL4MCF, DL4MDO and
DL4MEH, and they will sign as 9Y4/homecall from Tobago Island.
Operations will be on CW/SSB/RTTY with operations on 160-10
meters. They will also be a Multi-Single entry in the CQWW SSB
Contest with a special callsign. QSL via their home calls.
A3, TONGA. The "DX News
Letter" reports that Klaus, DJ4SO/A35SO, and Manfred,
DJ7RJ/(will receive his call upon arrival), will be active from
here October 1-19th. They intend to operate with a FT-847 and a
IC-775DSP, no power amplifiers and vertical antennas (HB9CV on
6m) on 160-6 meters. QSL via the bureau to their homecalls.
A3 AND 5W, TONGA AND WESTERN SAMOA.
Gerard, PA3AXU, reports that he will depart on October 19th, from
Amsterdam Airport for Tonga. He will arrive on October 21st, and
his callsign will be A35XU (his license to be picked up upon
arrival). He will stay in A3 until October 28th, where he will
then transfer to Western Samoa. His callsign will be 5W0GD and
plans to stay until November 8th, at which time he will depart
from 5W for PA-land. He will use a TS-450SAT, DX-70 (for 6 meter
monitoring), GPA-30 and wire dipoles. Operations will be on
RTTY/CW/SSB with activity on the "normal
DX-frequencies", including the WARC bands, and a trial and
error on the low bands (he has no AMP). Gerard is looking for
input on whether to put an emphasis on particular bands/modes.

AP, PAKISTAN (on CW and RTTY).
Nasir/AP2NK is active on 20 meters CW beaming short path to the
USA 0130-0300z. Look for him around 14010-14030 kHz. QSL via CBA.
Tariq/AP2TJ is active on 20 meters RTTY at the same times, again
beaming short path to the USA, usually on 14083 or 14085 kHz FSK.

ARRL OUTGOING QSL BUREAU.
Starting January 1, 1999, the ARRL Outgoing QSL Bureau will
increase its fees from $4.00 to $6.00 a pound, (150) cards. The
increase is necessary "to absorb the effects of a proposed
postal rate increase and to bring the money-losing service a bit
closer to a break-even basis" (ARRL Newsletter/Bill
Kennamer). The rate for quantities of 10 cards will remain at 1
USD.
BM0, TAIWAN. Look for BM0S which
is a new prefix from Taiwan. This station was active this past
weekend from downtown Taichung city. This call will be on the air
for just 2 weeks. Activity seemed to start on September 17th.
Paul, BV4FH, was put on the air to use this opportunity to
educate the BV people on how to use the radio legally and give
examinations for the novice class. The QSL info for the BM0S is:

CN, MOROCCO. Ben, DL6FBL, has
announced to OPDX that he will be active in the upcoming CQWW
Contests. Look for him here October 20-25th in the CQWW SSB
Contest as CN8MC (or CN2??) as a Single OP/All Bands/High Power
entry. Look for him again November 25-29th in the CQWW CW Contest
as CN8MC (or CN2??) as a Single OP/All Bands/High Power entry. He
will be operating the WARC bands before the contests. QSL cards
for SSB and CW will be automatically sent via the Bureau. People
who can't wait, send directly to DL6FBL (CBA). Ben will be
updating this info as soon as he knows which callsign will be
used. Also, he will soon activate a webpage at: http://www.boc.de/dl6fbl/
FG, GUADELOUPE. Members of the
Southern California DX Club (N6RV, K6RO, W6SR, N6ED, W6KK, and
N6RT) will be active from here (IOTA NA-102) from October
17-27th. They will be a Multi-Single entry in the 1998 CQWW SSB
contest using the callsign FG5BG. They will be on before and
after the contest using FG/homecall on all bands (160-10 meters)
using CW and SSB. QSL via bureau or direct to their homecalls.

HI3, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC.
Operators ON4ANT, ON4GG, ON4AOI, ON4AME, ON4AMM (YL), ON4AWK,
ON4CBA and ON5LW will be active from here October 20-27th. They
will be an entry in the CQWW SSB Contest as HI3/ON4ANT. Activity
before the contest will be on CW/SSB /RTTY on 160-10 meters using
a FT-1000MP, ALS600 amp and verticals (if they can get FT-920
from their sponsor, they might get on 6 meters). QSL via CBA or
bureau.
IOTA NEWS......
EU-075. Lars, SM3CVM, will be active during vacation as
SV8/SM3CVM/P from Poros Islands in the Peloponnisos East
Group between September 25th and October 7th. Activity
will be mainly CW on 40-10 meter at the lower part of the
band or near the IOTA frequencies. QSL to home callsign
or via the bureau.
EU-098. Look for DL2RNS, DL2RVL and DL2VFR to be active
from Poel Island (O-002 for German Island Award),
November 13-15th. The team will use their own individual
callsigns signing portable. They plan to be active around
the clock using 3 stations, 1 PA and several different
antennas to give everybody a chance who is interested in
working this island located on the Baltic coast for the
IOTA or German Island Award. They will be on the IOTA
frequencies (a bit more CW than SSB!). QSL via homecalls
to the bureau.
NA-136 (Update/Correction). Last week in OPDX.374 we
mentioned that the Great Norwalk Amateur Radio Club would
activate Sheffield Island on October 8th, this is WRONG.
The correct date is October 3rd. Also, the club callsign
W1NLK will be used.
KH8, AMERICAN SAMOA. Bill, W4WX,
will join Don, N5OLS, in Pago Pago as a Multi-Single entry in the
CQWW RTTY contest September 26-27th. If the "Space A DX
Group's" travel permits, Bill will be active a few days
before the contest. Bill is the founder of the Space A DXPedition

P4, ARUBA. Jacobo, P43P will be
active on all bands as P40B during the CQWW SSB Contest (October
24-25th). QSL information for P40B is: Jacobo Oduber, P.O. Box
685, Oranjestad, Aruba. PLEASE SEE P40 NOTE UNDER QSL INFO AND
NEWS. Depending on the results of the contest, Jacobo might have
to look for a QSL Manager for the P40B callsign. In the meantime,
he requests to just send direct all QSL requests for P40B to the

QSL INFO AND NEWS......
The Aruba QSL Bureau is NOT handling P40 QSL cards
(EXCEPT P40HQ!!), since these callsigns are
"specific contest callsigns" in P4 land, and it
is difficult for the Aruba Bureau to keep track of all
the visiting amateurs using the P40 callsigns.
C6A25FV CARDS. Delano, C6AFV, informs OPDX that he has
just sent out about 2000 cards for his C6A25FV special
event callsign. He requests that if you have already sent
a card, do not resend, and also, PLEASE make sure that
the IRCs are stamped in the lower left.
QSL Manager, Bill, K1WY, reports that he is manager for
the following DX stations: 5R8ET, ET3BT, GI6YM, P29CC,
S21J, TF7GX, TF8GX, UA0DC, UA0ZBK UA0AOZ and ZL3KIM. Send

PS1A and PS1S. These two stations were active this past
weekend from Grande Island (SA-029). Operators were PY1SL
and PU1KDR. QSL via PY1SL either direct or through the
bureau.
9M0C QSLS. Don, G3XTT, reports that all direct cards to
date have been replied to and posted. All E-mail requests
to date have been responded to via the RSGB bureau. All
bureau cards received to date have been processed and
passed to the RSGB bureau. If anyone requesting a direct
card and has not received a card by September 24th, they
should re-apply to Phil, G3SWH. The 9M0C team wants to
thank Phil for his efforts which, so far, have involved
confirming some 27,500 QSOs out of a total of 65,000 made
on the expedition (and the bureau cards continue to roll
in).
9N1UD AND HS0ZCW. Charlie, K4VUD, who was active on
CW/SSB/RTTY from Nepal in July, August and during
September, states to please QSLs via K4VUD. Also, he
guest operated from HS98AG, the special event station in
Thailand (callsign for the Asian Games). Charlie states
that while there, he was able to obtain his own callsign,
HS0ZCW, in September, 1998, SSB only. Please QSL to
K4VUD. ON50BDS CARDS. Eric, ON7LR, has asks for those who
are awaiting for ON50BDS QSLs to PLEASE be patient. Eric
has had a hard drive crash on his computer and is
awaiting repairs. He will confirm all QSOs as soon as
possible.
NEW QSL MANAGER. Bill, VK4FW, reports that he has become
the QSL Manager for the following new stations: YC0IEM,
YC9MKF, YC9NBR, YC1LGP and YC8VIP. QSL via VK4FW at: Bill

SPECIAL EVENT STATION. Now until
September 28th, look for special event station IY1EY to qualify
for the "Loano Elettra Award" to celebrate Marconi's
radioeletric experiments on the Elettra Ship from 1919 to 1936 in
the Ligurian Sea. The special prefix IY1EY will be active on all
modes (CW/SSB/RTTY) and bands. To receive a special QSL card
reproducing Marconi's legendary boat "Elettra", QSL
IK1QBT via the bureau or direct to: Tony Gallo, Via Capo
S.Spirito 1/16, 17052 Borghetto, S.Spirito (SV) Italy.
ST, SUDAN. "The 59(9)
DXReport" states Pierre, HB9AMO, plans to be in Sudan for 3
months starting in October. He will attempt to obtain a license.
V2, ANTIGUA. The Frankford Radio
Club (FRC) has once again announced that "Team Antigua"
will be active again during October 20-30th and be a Multi-Multi
entry in the CQWW SSB Contest as V26B. Before and after the
contest the operators will be active using their own callsigns.
Look for them to be on CW/SSB/RTTY on all bands (including the
WARC bands and 160 meters). The list of operators are as follows:

VP9, BERMUDA. Seiji,
JH6RTO/AH0R, will be active from here as AH0R/VP9 from October
15-17th. He will mainly work on the WARC bands. QSL via JH6RTO or
Seiji Fukushima, 1182-2506 Hase, Atsugi 243-0036 Japan.
XX9/VR2, MACAO/HONG KONG DXPEDITION
(Update). As reported in last week's bulletin, OPDX.374,
Jon/WB8YJF and Leo/K8PYD would be going here. Their departure
date has been changed to September 22nd rather than September
20th due to a change in airlines. This may or may not effect
their return date. They plan their operation with a heavy
ephassis on RTTY. They also mentioned that they will have
InterNet access from VR2, so they can let everyone know their
exact schedules. QSL via homecalls.
ZY0, ST. PETER AND ST. PAUL ROCKS.
The "NATAL DX GROUP" has announced that they will be
active from here, January, 1999. There will be four operators:
Randy/WX5L, Karl/PS7KM, Tino/PT7AA and another operator yet to be
announced. They plan to leave Natal, Brazil, the second week of
January in 1999, with the operation to commence 4 days later. The
operation will last for 12 days, or 2 full weekends. All bands
and modes will be utilized, with emphasis on RTTY, 6 meters and
low bands (80/160 meters). The normal DX frequencies will be
used. The callsigns will be ZY0SP for SSB/RTTY (QSL via PS7KM)
and for CW, ZY0SZ (QSL via PT7AA). Both QSL callsigns can be
found via 1998 CB. Their total planned budget for the event will
be 11,000 USD, with 70% to be allocated for the boat rental. Due
to these facts, they are requesting donations to make this
DXpedition possible. Funds can be sent to WX5L Randy or PS7KM
