of Saigon city. QSL via K2WE.
5N, NIGERIA. David, OK1AUT,

Club will be active again from this Zhoushan archipelago (IOTA
AS-137) as BI5X. The BI5X operation plans to be active on 80-6
meters (WARC bands included) on CW and SSB. Activity will be

CHANGES IN UPCOMING DXPEDITIONS.......
Reports indicate that due to the ZL9 and PY0 (although
this has been changed, read below) DXpeditions in
January, 1999, Frank, AH0W, may the Midway-Kure DX
Foundation's (MKDXF) DXpedition until the end of January,
1999.
The NATAL DX GROUP announces that as a result of a recent
meeting, the January, 1999, DXpedition to the St. Peter
& St. Paul Rocks (PY0) has been postponed to the
first week of March, 1999. This is due to the two
DXpeditions to ZL9 and 3B9, as well as the convenience of
the operators.
The Midway Island "K4M" operation by the MKDXF
which was to take place September 20-25th was postponed.
Bill, W4WX, reports that W4WX/KH8 was not heard during
last weekend's RTTY contest because he could not get a
flight out of Travis to go to Pago Pago or Hicham.
CN, MOROCCO. "The 59(9)
DXReport" states that Gerald, OE8GNK, will be active October
9-30th. His callsign is to be issued upon arrival. QSL via
homecall.
CN, MOROCCO (Update). In last
week's bulletin (refer OPDX.375) Ben, DL6FBL, stated he would be
active during both CQWW Contest (CW/SSB) and was not sure what
his callsign would be. Well, Ben has informed OPDX that he will
use the callsign CN8WW.
E3, ERITREA. After several years
of silence Eritrea was finally heard on the air thanks to Jacky,
F2CW, who was in Asmara for the past few weeks. Jacky received a
letter from the Ministry of Transport and Communications stating
that Amateur Radio is officially open in Eritrea as of September
21st, 1998. The only "bad" news is that the license fee
has currently been set at $500 USD! Jacky was only able to be
active for a little while during September 22-23rd, as E31AA
because he had to leave for Djibouti Wednesday morning for
business for one week. The good news is that Jacky will be back
in Eritrea in a week and will then operate some more with a
Kenwood TS-50, which is currently being shipped to him. QSL via
ZL3CW/F2CW: Jacques Calvo, POB 593, Pukekohe Auckland 1800, New
Zealand.
E3, ERITREA. Bruce, WD4NGB,
reports that things are moving along on the "Space A DX
Group's" trip to Eritrea. He mentions that it takes time to
plan a trip for 20 operators from 10 different countries. The
operation by Jacky as E31AA is a plus for their plans. Jacky has
also helped them to do some of the detail work before the group
gets there. Bruce has asked Jacky to join them when they go to
Eritrea. A few details and questions still have to be worked out.
Once this happens, an official announcement with dates,
frequencies, etc.... will take place. Currently, they have 4 WEB
pages up and running and a 5th is under construction to speed up
access. They tried to get one in Japan with no luck. These pages
are:

in talks with Israel on a West Bank troop withdrawal by then.....
PIRATED PREFIX "1V6".
Omari, 4L5O, wants to inform all radio amateurs in the world that
"1V6" is a "PIRATED PREFIX". He mentions that
some operators from the Rep. of Georgia do not like the 4L1
prefix but choose to use the 1V6 prefix. These are not a valid
allocated callsigns.
