The Daily DX, K4CIA, N4GN, W5AJ, K7BV, K8YSE, W8EB, N9AG, BA1HAM,

HA5PP, HB9HFN, HL2KAT, JA8RUZ, ON6TT/5X1T, SM0AGD, UA0MF, VE3NQK,
VK3TZ, VK9NS and XE1ITJ for the following DX information.
3D2, FIJI. Karl, K0KL, will be
active next month as 3D2KE bewteen March 20-27th. Activity will
be mostly on 40 and 15 meters CW. QSL via homecall.
3V8, TUNISIA. The "DX News
Sheet" reports that Vlad, UA2FF, and other operators will be
active in the CQ 160 Meter SSB Contest from the 3V8BB station.
4U1ITU, ITU HQ. Look for
Don/K2KQ, Tom/K1TW and Piero/IK2BHX to activate 4U1ITU in the
ARRL DX SSB contest as a Multi-2 entry.
5T, MAURITANIA. The
International Amateur Radio Volunteers (IARV) will go to
Mauritania to establish an emergency radio communication system
in North Mauritania area. This time Tada, JA1CPS, is the leader
and will head up a team of 5 operators. Yoshi, JA1UT, is NOT
going to Mauritania this time due to the Palestine operation. The
IARV will stay in Mauritania from March 11-17th. Activity will be
on 80-10 meters, including the WARC bands on CW/SSB/RTTY mode.
They have not specified which frequencies they will operate but
will seek popular DX frequencies. They will operate during their
spare time. QSL via JA1UT.
CE0, EASTER ISLAND. Roberto
"Bob", CE3CDV, reports a group of 10 friends will
depart on February 27th to activate Easter Island as CE0AA. They
will be active until March 20th. Activity will be on CW/SSB on
160-6 meters. The QSL Manager is Sergio Del Gaudio, CE3WDH,
P.O.Box 240-3, Santiago, CHILE. QSLs via Bureau are also OK.
CORRECTION TO OPDX.396. Under
"HC8, GALAPAGOS", we mentioned that N5KO's name was
Bob. This is incorrect. His name is Trey. Also, the LINK to the
V26B site in the bulletin had a capital "B" in the URL
and hence it would not work. The address should have been: http://www.frc-contest.org/v26b/index.htm
DXCC NEWS. If you are not a OPDX
InterNet Subscriber, you missed a special bulletin that was sent
out announcing that the DXCC Desk will be purging 9U contacts as
far back as January 1, 1994, and after. The purging will take
place before March. The DXCC Desk reasoning is: "The
submission of forged documentation is a clear violation of DXCC
Section 1, Basic Rule 7, and also Rule 12 (a). Bill Moore, NC1L,
from the League, says. "The list includes the callsigns
listed below and may or may not be limited to these: 9U/F5FHI,
9U/EA1FH, 9U5W, 9U5DX, 9U5T, 9U5CW and 9U5DX. Remember, only the
contacts dated January 1, 1994, or after do not count. Some have
credits before this and these would be OK. The station 4U9U is
OK."
E4, PALESTINE. The excitement
continues from this one even though the LIDS/KIDS and SPACE
CADETS try to disrupt operations. REMEMBER, ignore them! Anyway,
several stations have been active with more to be aired in the
coming weeks. As reported in last week's bulletin and in the
specially issued OPDX bulletin (to OPDX InterNet Subscribers)
throughout the week E44A, E44B, E44C, E44D and E44DX are all
licensed to operate. A message from Jim Smith, VK9NS, earlier in
the week informed OPDX that he talked to Ali, E44A (JY4NE). Ali
stated that there are four students at the local college being
trained so that they, too, can be licensed in the near future.
Jim states, "....this is good news and hopefully we can
expect plenty of activity in months and years to come. For
myself, the appearance of Palestine on the bands with that brand
new ITU allocated prefix/callsign has been one of the most
signifcant events my amateur radio life. Having worked in the
Middle East and knowing a little of events it is special. We
should wish Palestine and its radio amateurs every success as
they join our hobby." The E44DX team continues to be very
active mainly on SSB, but they were active for a few days last
week before the CW contest and will do some CW operations after
the ARRL International DX CW Contest, starting at 0000z, Monday.
Their focus will be on 7 MHz. The E44DX Palestine DXpedition
team's absolute highlight, however, has been their meeting with
Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat where Yasser Arafat expressed
his support for ham radio, and he sent his regards to the
worldwide amateur community. Your editor talked to Bernie, W3UR
(Editor of "The Daily DX"), on 10 meters last Saturday
and he informed me that at that time, the team has worked about
23000 QSOs. Their goal is over 35000 QSOs before their operation
ends on Tuesday, February 23rd. The International Amateur Radio
Volunteers (IARV) team led by Yoshi, JA1UT, is Palestine right
now. The team is has 7 members/operators to help establish
another radio-telecommunications system in Palestine. The
announcement indicated that Toshi/JA8RUZ and Hiro/JP1TRJ will
concentrate on amateur radio operation 24 hours continuously with
two radios. Activity will be on 80-10 meters including WARC band
CW and SSB. There wil be NO RTTY this trip. Yoshi was spotted
over the weekend as JA1UT/E4.
FW, WALLIS ISLANDS. Just a quick
reminder that Cedric, HB9HFN, will be active from here February
23th through March 8th. His callsign will be FW5FN. Please refer
to OPDX.390 for more details. Cedric states that he will try to
post the log during his DXpedition every 3-4 days on his Web page
at: http://www.qsl.net/hb9hfn/log/fw_search.html

but they trying to obtain a short contest call. They plan to

emphasize RTTY, CW, and the WARC bands. All contest QSOs will be
confirmed auto- matically with a photo QSL via the bureau. You

outside the contest. The "TEAM SAN ANDRES" members are
W4DC, K5OF, AA3KX, WB4ZNH, WN4FVU (if you need a YL contact),

(SSB and CW) 1800-2200z. Activity will continue later if demand
requires. The club will be sending a special certificate upon

J69AC, PO Box 1677, Castries, St. Lucia, West Indies.
KG4, GUANTANAMO BAY. The Florida

BARTG RTTY Contest (March 20-21st). Their contest callsign will
be KG4WB. Also, look for them before and after the contest on all
bands with special attention to 6 meters and RTTY. QSL via home
callsign.

ON6TT/5X1T, will be going to three countries
(Ethiopia/Eritrea/Djibouti) in a 14 days emergency mission to
assess needs and to bring in an intervention team to boost the UN
World Food Programme's preparedness to deal with the conflict on
the level of IT and communications. Peter states to not expect a
large scale operation if he is able to receive licenses and to
look for him during his evenings.
PJ8, ST. MAARTEN. Ron/ND5S, his
wife Sue/KF5LG, Bil/W8EB and his wife Dorothy/W8DVC will once
again be on this island. They will be there for three weeks
between February 22nd through March 14th. The group will be using
the callsign of PJ8A for the ARRL DX Phone Contest and will use
the prefix of PJ8/homecall for the rest of the time. They will be
concentrating on 160 and 80 meters but have the capability to
operate on 160-10 meters. The group's equipment includes: Icom
706, PK232 for RTTY, plus the Yaesu FT-900CAT, KamPlus for RTTY,
Yaesu FL-2100Z amplifier, two R-7000 verticals and a 127 foot
sloper for 160 and 80 meters. One vertical is located at the top
of the 10 story building as well as the sloper. The other
vertical will be installed on the three story balcony. This is
their fifth year on the island. They will maintain a daily sked
on 14200 kHz at 2030z with the gang back home in Michigan. So if
someone wants to request a sked on the other bands, please feel
free to stop by and make a schedule.
QSL INFO AND NEWS......
Mirek, VK3DXI, is currently back from his Z2/ZS trip and
is now living in Singapore. He states that he was active
as much as he could as Z2/VK3DXI, and ZS/VK3DXI
considering it was stricly a business trip. Mirek will be
doing the QSLs himself, and the best route is via his new
QTH in Singapore (He is awaiting the return of his 9V1XE
callsign): Mirek Rozbicki, 7 Seletar Terrace, Singapore

VK3DXI, however he also mentions his old addresses are

Bill, K4CIA, is NOT QSL Manager for KV4FZ and has no logs
or cards. This information was listed in DXNL after the

history now.

Zoli, HA5PP, informs OPDX that 99% of the E30HA's QSLs
went out last week. Now for the BAD NEWS. Zoli has been
informed by the Hungarian Police that they found many
stolen foreign letters which included a lot of E30HA
request and QSLs in a postal worker's home. This means
some will not receive QSL cards, and Zoli is very sorry
about this situation which will cause many to re-QSL.

1-14th. This is not a full-scale DXpedition, so look for S79AG
