QSL INFO AND NEWS...
MORE ON ZF2NT QSL ROUTE (Correction).
Last week we mentioned that Chris, K4PC (one of 4-land's
QSL Bureau Sorters), reported that many QSLs (for ZF2NT)
have been sent to the Bureau for N4YBF (who does not keep
SASEs on file with the Bureau). OPDX and K4PC have
learned since then, thanks to N2AU and ZF2NT, that N4YBF
is NOT the QSL Manager for Bruce, ZF2NT. Art, N2AU,
reports that in May of 1998, the callsign was reissued to
Bruce Sawyer, N6NT, and Art has been the QSL Manager for
ZF2NT since day one of Bruce's operation. Art has
contacted Chris, K4PC, by E-mail and will be sending
Chris some SASEs to answer the bureau cards. So the story
has a happy ending.
HC8L QSL ROUTE UPDATE. Art, N2AU,
reports that he is now the QSL Manager for Dave, W6NL,
who operated as HC8L in the past ARRL SSB DX Contest. He
states that it will take 6-8 weeks to get cards and logs.
So, all cards for the last ARRL SSB Contest and future
operations go via N2AU.
Art, N2AU, also reports to OPDX that he
is the QSL Manager for the following stations: NH7A,
YC0LOW, YB0ARA/9, YB0JWA, KH6X, KH6T, KH6XT, XE1RGL,
ZF2NT, HC8L, V31DX, 4X6TT, V29TT, RZ9WZ, UA9FGR, ZP5XF,
YO3APJ (NA only), CT1EGW, KL7Y, CT98EGW, and W6XR.
Reports indicate that the FO0SIL QSLs
are being received.......
QSLs for the NP3X CQ WPX Contest
operation go via W4DN.........
Z2/ZS6PDX QSL CARDS. David, ZS6RVG, has
informed OPDX that due to a computer problem, David hit
the wrong key, and the QSO times on his computer logs for
most of the Z2/ZS6PDX trip were set to 1500z. David has
received a lot of direct cards and was able to rebuild
alot of the database with approx. the correct QSO times.
However, about 250 cards have been sent to the bureau
with the time field blank. David hopes that this will not
cause to many problems, and thanks everyone for their
patience and tolerance.
E44/OZ5IPA cards for this one-man
DXpedition to Palestine (March 10-15th, 4659 QSOs) have
been received from the printers. QSL Manager is OZ5AAH,
Ben Jakobsen, 9 Knoldager, DK-2670 Greve, Denmark. Cards
without sufficient postage (2 IRC or similar) will be
sent back via bureau. By the way, Ben is also QSL Manager
for: OX3IPA, OY5IPA, HS0/OZ5IPA, and TF/OZ5IPA.
Charlie, W0YG, has requested not to QSL
using the ARRL Bureau system for his recent VK9XX/YY
operation. If you insist on QSLing through the Bureau,
please use the WF5E QSL service which is much easier for
Charlie's QSLing team.
Veronica, IK3ZAW, reports that last
Saturday she received the 5A1IC printed QSLs, and on
Monday (March 22nd) all the direct requests have been
answered. As for the 5A22PA QSLs, she is still waiting
for both the cards and the logs. She states both
operations can be answered via the bureau.
SPECIAL EVENT. "The 59(9) DXReport"
reports that Mike, ZL1MH, will use ZL2RN/1, April 1-30th, as part
of the Commonwealth Area Stations tribute to Portishead Radio.
Activity will be CW on 7020, 10120, 14050, 21050 and 28050 kHz.
SPECIAL EVENT/PREFIX. Industry Canada has
released the prefix CY6 for use by the Calgary area amateurs from
July 1-14th. This is to celebrate the world famous Calgary
Stampede. This will be a good time to work on your Stampede City
Award. Full details of the award can be seen at: http://www.cara.ampr.org/stampede.html
VE6NQ is a two point station for the award and will be on July
1st, in the Canada Day contest. All inquiries can be sent to: ve6yc@rac.ca.
TM7, FRANCE. Look for F5AMH to use the
callsign TM7T in this weekend's CQ WPX SSB Contest.
TZ, MALI. Alexandre, TZ6AK, can sometimes be
found on 20 meters around 0630z, but is hard to find on the
bands. A report indicates that he responds to a "CQ
DX", and he listens for stations instead of calling himself.
OPDX has also learned that Alexandre is French and speaks little
English. QSL info is to: PO Box 933, Bamako, Mali.
WEBSITE OF INTEREST. Leon, W5NA, says to
check out the following MDXA's Web site, "put together by a
bunch of DXERS and Contesters.... who also run the ARRL W5
Incoming QSL Bureau": http://www.mdxa.org.
ZC4 OPERATION CANCELLED. A report states that
George, 5B4AGC, will not operate from ZC4 on March 26th. His
mother has passed way, and he has returned to the UK.
ZD8, ASCENSION ISLAND. The "DX News
Sheet" reports that Jim/N6TJ and Glen/K6NA are active again
until March 31st as ZD8Z and ZD8A. This will include activity in
the CQ WPX SSB Contest (Single Band 10 and 15 meters). QSL ZD8Z
via VE3HO and ZD8A via home callsign.
