FEW NOTES FROM EDITOR, TEDD, KB8NW: Because I
will be attending the Dayton HamVention, I cannot guarantee that
there will be a bulletin next week. If it does happen, it will
probably be late Monday. Please, continue to send your
information (you never know!). Just a reminder! The Northern Ohio
DX Association (along with WVNO Radio) will once again sponsor a
Hospitality Suite at this year's Dayton Hamvention. It will be in
Suite 1011 on the 10th Club Floor of the Crowne Plaza Hotel (old
Stouffers) on Friday and Saturday evenings. All DXers/Contesters
are welcome. Munchies and refreshments will be avaialble. Come
and meet the members and friends of NODXA.
2S, SCOTLAND. Chris, GM3WOJ, reports that to
celebrate the opening of the new Scottish parliament, the first
in 300 years, the North of Scotland Contest Group GM2MP/GM7V will
be using the special prefix "2S" and will be signing
2S2MP during the period of May 6th through July 31st. The group
will be active from several different QTHs on different bands to
give everyone the maximum opportunity to work this rare prefix.
Their activity started this past weekend on 15 meters. QSL cards
for ALL QSOs will be sent out VIA THE BUREAU only later in 1999.
2S2MP does not collect QSL cards, so PLEASE DO NOT SEND a QSL
card. You will receive a 2S2MP QSL card if you make a QSO.
5N, NIGERIA (Update). OPDX received a message
this week from Stan, OK1JR, currently active from here, stating,
"Greetings from Nigeria and I want to say hello to OPDX
readers. We just finished with 5N99 prefix. I hope I made happy
all HAMs looking for 5N as a new one." Stan goes on saying
he made 10,000 QSOs which includes activity on 40/80 meters. He
states that he also made 1000 RTTY QSOs using the BTL software
along with his multi-media sound blaster and notebook computer.
Stan will be active until the end of the May, but using the
callsign 5N0MSV. Look for him between 1500-0100z on 80-10 meters
CW/SSB/RTTY. QSL via home callsign OK1JR: Stan Matejicek,
Moskevska 1464, 101 00 Praha 10, Czech Republic.
9M2, WEST MALAYSIA. The "DX News
Sheet" reports that Johnny, G3LIV, will not be active May
4-24th as 9M2/G3LIV from Pulau Penang as announced. The reason
given was a change in the licensing authority by the Commission
as of April 1st, which means he has been unable to obtain a
license.
AX3, AUSTRALIA. "The 59(9)
DXReport" states to look for AX3ITU May 17th from Melbourne
during World Telecommunications Day. QSL via VK3DYL. Actually,
look for each call area to be active during Australia's ITU Day.
Look for AX1ITU, AX2ITU.... etc.
DAYTON DXERS/CONTESTERS EVENT. The 59(9) DX
Report, Western New York DX Association and Rochester DX
Association will host Hospitality Suite 325 at the Crowne Plaza
Hotel during the Dayton Hamvention next weekend. Stop by for an
eyeball and a cool one Friday and Saturday evenings from 8 PM
onwards. Meet your fellow DXers and have an eyeball with some of
the DX gang you worked lately. You never know who will show up.
It is always a good time and enjoyable for both the Big Guns and
Little Pistols. All are welcome.
FO, MARQUESAE ISLANDS (Change of plans!) The
"Les Nouvelles DX" reports that some planning changes
have taken place by Alain, F2HE. Alain will leave from France on
May 19th and he will be in Marquesas on May 26th. He is also
supposed to go to the Australes Islands. Please refer to
OPDX.406.
FR/G, GLORIOSO ISLAND. Several are reporting
that Henri, FR5ZQ, will be active again from here sometime in
May/June as FR5ZQ/G. However, Bernie, W3UR, editior of "The
Daily DX" reports that he received information from Flavio,
IK2IQD, stating Henri, will arrive on the island of Glorioso May
8th. He will be active on 80-10 meters CW and SSB for 4 weeks. He
will be working on the island and will be on the air in his spare
time. The following suggested frequencies were given: CW - 28023,
21023, 14023 and 7003 kHz --- SSB - 28480, 21230, 14180, 7050 and
3770 kHz. No WARC frequenices were given, but he will be on the
WARC bands. Also, in the report it was mentioned that Henri will
show up on 14180 at 1500z. It is not known if this is a list
operation or not. QSL direct to FR5ZQ CBA.
HB0, LIECHTENSTEIN. A group of Germans will
be active from here June 19-25th. They report that their QTH
there will be 2000 mt ASL. Their callsigs will be HB0/DF6VI,
HB0/DL1FDH and HB0/DL4OCM. They will be active with 3 stations on
simultaneously, each with about 800 watts output into several
antennas on 160-6 meters on CW/SSB/RTTY. QSL via their home
callsigns. JW, SVALBARD. Look for DF6VI and DL4OCM to be active
from Spitzbergen, August 9-15th. Their callsigns will be JW/DF6VI
and JW/DL4OCM. They will be active on 160-10 meters on
CW/SSB/RTTY. QSL via their home callsigns.
HC8, GALAPAGOS ISLANDS. Look for Trey/N5KO,
Ken/K1EA, Steve/K6AW, Jon/ N0JK, Ralph/K9ZO, David/KM3T and
Robert/N6TV to be active May 26th through June 2nd from San
Cristobal Island. Their activity will include the CQ WPX CW
Contest. Callsigns were not given. Look for N0JK to be active on
6 meters with 100 watts and a Yagi. A beacon will be on 50.110
Also, look for him on the satellitea outside of the contest.
IOTA NEWS...
EU-032. From July 21st through August
4th, look for Marc/ON5FP and Kristof/ON6NN to be island
hopping (inclusive IOTA contest) in the French EU-032
group using the callsign TM1OTA. Their aim is to activate
the islands of: Re, Aix, Madame, Fort Enet, Fort Louvois
and Oleron (which will be their home base). QSL to ON4ADN
either direct (Geert Decru, St Laurentiusstraat 18 8710
Wielsbeke, Belgium) or via the UBA bureau.
EU-128. Mario, DJ2MX, will be active
from Fehmarn Island, May 16-19th. He promised to pay
special attention to VK/ZL and Pacific areas. The Fehmarn
Island is also valid for DID as O-01. QSL via bureau.
EU-156. Hubert/F6HKA, Didier/F6ELE and
Mauricette/F8BPN will be active as homecall/P from
Tombelaine on May 30th from 0500-1500z.
NA-046. Henry, KE1AC, will be operating
from Nantucket Island, (Nantucket County, Massachusetts,
MA-007S) on May 12-13th. Look for him on the SSB IOTA
frequencies. Henry will use a Kachina 505DSP w/100 Watts
and a Force 12 C3SS antenna. QSL via home call.
NA-134. Michel, OX3LG, will be active on
Asiaat Island, Greenland, from May 10-20th. He will be
active on 6/10/15/20 meters, work schedule and
propagation permitting. QSL via OZ1PIF: Peter Frenning,

NA-151. Michel, OX3LG, will be active
June 15-30th from Angmasalik Island, Greenland. Activity
will be the same bands and limitations as his NA-134
operation. This visit should also see the new 6m beacon
activated. QSL via OZ1PIF.
L2, ARGENTINA. Horacio, LU4AAV, is another
station that will active as L24AAV between May 16th (0000z) and
May 23rd (0000z), CW/SSB on all bands. This will be during the
celebration of 75th Aniversary of the World Record of Distance in
1924 (please refer to OPDX.404). QSL via the bureau or direct to
LU4AAV: Horacio Cilmi "Hoc", Navarro 5078, 1419 Buenos
Aires, Argentina (w/ SASE). For questions send E-mail to: luaav@mixmail.com. Also, look
for LU1DK, LU2JCW, LU5FCI and LU8EEM during the celebration as
L21DK, L22JCW, L25FCI and L28EEM, from May 16-23rd, on all band
(SSB). QSL via F6FNU.
P3, CYPRUS (Update). Harry, UN7FZ/UP6F,
informs OPDX that the P3A Team (RA9JX, RZ3TX, UA9MA, UA3DPX,
UA3AB, I2VXJ, RW3QC, UT7QF, RX4HW, RU3DX, UA9CDV, UN7FZ) will be
active during the 1999 CQ WPX CW Contest as a Multi/Multi
category. QSL route is via W3HNK. QSLs for operations before and
after the contest for contacts with teams signing 5B4/homecall,
must go to home callsigns.
QSL INFO AND NEWS...
E44DX QSL Cards at Dayton! "The
Daily DX" reports that the QSL cards for E44DX, the
first DXpedition to the new Palestine, will be available
thanks to the assistence of the Northern California DX
Foundation (NCDXF). At the Crown Plaza Hotel, a table
will be set up on Friday night just outside of the DX
Dinner Banquet. Bernie, W3UR, Editor of "The Daily
DX", reports that the labels have all been printed
and the group will have only the U.S. labels and QSL

For those who are unable to attend, and VEs and DXers
from other countries, the QSLs will start to go out
around June 1, 1999.
E44/HA1AG QSLs are going out! Zoli,
HA1AG, reports that the first 2500 direct QSLs have been
mailed. Early next week another 7100 will follow. The

The latest edition of "The 59(9)
Report" states that effective April 5, 1999, the
U.S. Postal Service has suspended delivery to the
following countries: YA, 9U, 9Q, J5, EL, P2 (Bougainville
only), 9L, T5, and YU.
OOOPPPSS!! The dates for the FO0XUU
operations in last week's bulletin were listed wrong.
Please change the date for the Marquesas operation to
January, 1999 and the Australs to Februbary, 1999.
Tez, VK1TX, reports that the QSL Manager
for Tom's (VK0TS) Antarctica operation is VK1PJ (Phil)
NOT VK1AUS. Also, please send QSL cards for Tom's
operation from Macquarie Island to the Inwards QSL
Manager for VK1 Bureau, to VK1TX c/o VK1 QSL Bureau as of

The special event station EN125H that is
active between May 6-9th, CW/SSB/RTTY on all bands, was
on in celebration of 125 years of the "Kriukov
Railway Car Building Works". QSL via UT1HT, P.O. Box
87, Kremenchug-21, Ukraine, 315321 or via bureau.
HK3DDD ADDRESS CHANGE. Rob, HJ3PXA,
reports to "Please take note that well known all
time Malpelo QSL Manager, HK3DDD, BETO , has changed his
address". The new address is: Edilberto Rojas
Mosquera, POB 170151, Bogota, COLOMBIA.
SAVE YOUR MONEY. The station active as
YA1R several months back who gave the QSL route as RW3LO
is a pirate. According to RA3LZ: "Callsign RW3LO has
never existed".
Doug, N6RT, reports, "The final
S79FAG, S79YL, and S79ZG logs are now online at: http://dx.qsl.net/logs.
Several hundred QSOs were missing from the logs before
the final update. If you think you should be in the log
and you were not, check again."
UP54P was a special event station to
celebrate the 54th anniversary of victory in WWII. QSL
via UN5PR direct: Romeo Y. Loparev, P.O.Box 73, Temirtau,
472300, Rep. of Kazakhstan.
NOT A QSL MANAGER! W3CU is the club
station callsign for the Maryland Mobileers Amateur Radio
Club. Russ, N3GT, Trustee for W3CU, states, "We are
not QSL managers for anyone. It is possible that the
previous callsign owner was."
YO99JP was a special event station
(isssued by the Romanian Amateur Radio Federation) and
was active in celebration of the Pope's first visit in
Romania. Pope John Paul II was present in Bucharest May
7-9th. QSL to YO3KPA via bureau. More information on the

SV9, CRETE. The "DX News Sheet"
reports that Drew, GM3YOR, will be active May 15-28th as
SV9/GM3YOR while on holiday. He will operate CW mainly on the
WARC bands, but also 160 and 80 meters (13kHz up) if conditions
allow. QSL via home callsign.
TM, FRANCE. F5JBR will be active as TM0AI
from May 23rd to June 6th. This will include CQ WPX CW Contest.
V3, BELIZE. Bill, W2WC, will be here May
11-14th, and plans to be active from V31GM's QTH in Punta Gorda.
No callsign was given, but there was some mention of him possibly
working the digital modes. QSL via home callsign.
WH2, GUAM. Dave, KH2/N2NL, informs OPDX that
he will be active as WH2/N2NL in the CQ WPX CW Contest as a
Single Op/All Band entry. QSL via W2YC, direct or via the bureau
is OK. Cards sent directly to his Guam address will be answered,
but the turn around will be much longer than via his QSL Manager
W2YC.
YM0, TURKEY (Attend Prefix Hunters). The
"DX News Letter" reports that DL6DB, DA2KT, DJ2JH,
DL4DN, DL6BK and DG1NPM should be active as YM0S from Bozcaada
Island (AS-099) now until May 14th.
YO, ROMANIA. Jean Michel, F6AJA, will be
active as YO/F6AJA from May 17-22nd from YO8FZ's QTH during his
free time. Jean states, "It's NOT a DXpedition of
course."
