9H0, MALTA. Wim (Bill) Visch, PA3BIZ, PR
Manager V.R.Z.A. (Dutch Amateur Radio Society), informs OPDX that
on September 17th a large group of Dutch amateurs will leave for
a combination holiday/DXpedition to the island of Malta (EU-023).
A total of 26 operators, all with their own 9H3 callsigns, will
join the party of 45 participants. Four of the ops are female
operators. The whole team has been granted the special 9H0VRZ
callsign. They plan to be active between September 18th and
October 10th. Operations will be on 80-6 meters both SSB and CW.
They will be active daily on the international DX frequencies +/-
QRM. They also plan to run a daily updated log on InterNet. QSL

BELARUS WEB SITE. Larry, EW2EO, reports that
he has set up a Web site which contains: first callbook of
Belarus (EU-EW) stations; amateur radio map of regions of
Belarus; photos of the EW52BO and EW2EO QSL cards and other

CHARLIE, W0YG, IS HEADING TO AFRICA AGAIN!
Charlie, W0YG, informs OPDX that he will be off again on
September 1st for South Africa (ZS), Namibia (V5), Botswana (A2)
and Zimbabwe (Z2). He will be active on CW only, mostly on the
WARC bands. Charlie has asked us to remind everyone to "ONLY
ONLY" QSL direct to W0YG. Even if he uses his ZS6YG
callsign, cards must still be sent direct to W0YG. Cards sent to
the ZS bureau cannot be answered. If a bureau card must be used,
cards must go through the WF5E bureau system and not the ARRL
Bureau.
DXCC FAQ #6 by Bill, Moore, NC1L, will be
sent to all OPDX InterNet Subscribers as an additional bulletin.
E4, PALESTINE. The "425 DX News"
reports that Alessio/IZ0CKJ, Simon/IZ7ATN and Max/IW0FQZ will be
active from here August 19-26th. No callsigns were mentioned, but
there will be some 6 meters activity.
IOTA NEWS AND INFO...
AS-073. Tex, 9M2TO, will be active from
Redang Island August 28-31st. Activity will be mainly CW
on all bands (no 6 meters) on the normal DX frequencies.
He will use a IC-736 w/100w and a G5RV antenna. QSL to
JA0DMV via the bureau or direct to 9M2TO on Penang
Island. NOTE: All the QSLs will be sent out via the
Bureau at the end of September AUTOMATICALLY.
EU-016. Pietro, IK4MTF, will be active
from the Croatian Island Brac starting August 17th for
about a week. The island is located in the Adriatic Sea
Coast South Group. He will be on holiday but will be
active on 40-10 meters (WARC included) with an Icom 706
and R-7000 antenna.
EU-052. Look for the Hungarian team
Laci, Zsolt and Tibor on holiday to sign SV8/HA6NL/P,
SV8/HA6PS/P and SV8/HA6ZV/P, respectively, from Island of
Korfu between September 1-8th. They will be active on all
the bands CW/SSB/RTTY. Suggested frequencies:
EU-080. Dr. Jorge Fernandez Devesa,
EC1BXI, will be in Monteagudo Island (Cies Islands
archipielago, Pontevedra Islands group, Spanish Island
Award IDEA Reference number EA1-1-1) from August 15-30th.
He will be going to the island as the M.D. for the
natural park, taking care of guards and visitors. Some of
the operators that will be going along with him will be:
EA1APA, EA1APS, EA1BPS, EA1CSI, EA1FBU, and possibly some
other. The callsigns to be used are ED1OTA and EF1OTA.
Their activity will be CW/SSB and possibly some PSK31 and
other digital modes. Dr. Jorge is currently looking for
sponsors (any Spanish association or company) for this
DXpedition so they can print a colored QSL with an aerial
view of the islands. QSL via direct ONLY with a SASE to
ED1OTA/EF1OTA, P.O. Box 54, 36980 O GROVE, (Pontevedra)
SPAIN.
OC-135. Steve, VK4EMS, is now active
from Bougainville Island (Papua New Guinea) as P29BI. He
will be working on the island until late December, 1999.
He will be active during his spare time on weekdays and
will be active mostly on Sundays. QSNs show activity
between 0645 and 0730z and between 1130 and 1200z on 20
meters (14260 kHz). Also, check 15 meters (21260 kHz)
around 2330z. His operations will be on CW and SSB. QSL
via VK4EJ.
SA-018. CE6TBN, Editor de TBNoticias,
will be active from Quinchao Island between August
27-31st. Operations will be on 20/17/ 15/12/10 meters
CW/SSB/RTTY. QSL via CE6TC or CE6TBN, Box 1234, Temuco,

J3, GRENADA. The "DX News Letter"
reports that Bill, J3/G0STR, is active working QRP CW on 7030 and
14060 kHz from 0000-0500z until August 25th. QSL via G0STR.
LIGHTHOUSE/LIGHTSHIP ACTIVITY NEXT WEEKEND (August
21-22nd). Over 1200 stations and over 150
lighthouses/lightships will be active. QSL info is on page 93 of
August's QST and details of the event are on page 91. Also, more
information about the International Lighthouse Weekend can be

Look for ZW7ZZ to be active on 80-10
meters, CW/SSB, from the Natal Lighthouse in Natal City,
Brazil (Grid HI24jf - DFB RN 07). QSL via the bureau, or
PS7ZZ, Francisco de Freitas, Av. Sao Miguel dos Caribes
31, Conj. Jiqu0, 59086-500, Natal/RN/Brasil.
The NATAL DX GROUP will be operating
from the Farol do Calcanhar, in Touros, RN, Brazil,
commemorating the International Lighthouse Weekend. The
callsign for the weekend will be ZW7FC. You are invited
to contact them on SSB and CW. Operators will be:
Karl/PS7KM, Joao/PS7KT and Janduir/PS7BX. QSL info:
PS7KM, via bureau or direct via CBA.
UPDATE! The Florida DXPedition Group
will be operating from the Amelia Island Lighthouse as
W4A. The operations will be conducted from 0001z, August
21st to 2359z August 22nd. Club members will be operating
SSB, CW, and RTTY during the Amelia Island Lighthouse
event. QSL via N5VL (bureau or direct) for this event.
Please include a SASE or sufficient funds for postage if
you QSL direct!
Look for Jim Weidner, K2JXW, to be
active as W2L aboard the "Sandy Claws" at
Thimble Shoals Light, Chesapeake Bay. He will be
operating mostly on 14265 and 7265 kHz.
As part of Lighthouse/Lightship Activity Weekend,
members of the Great South Bay ARC, Islip ARES Group and
Suffolk County Radio Club will operate from Fire Island
Lighthouse, Fire Island National Seashore in New York,
ref #670, IOTA NA-026, USIA NY-013-S, signing
W2GSB/Lighthouse. This operation is dedicated to the
memory of Rich Tygar, AC2P <SK>. QSL direct to

Look for the following Polish
lighthouses stations (in order from Poland's west to east
coast) during International Lighthouse Weekend.
*** Actvities are expected from other Polish Lighthouses
in Darlowo, Rozewie, Jastarnia, Hel and Gdansk Port
Polnocny, but there is no detailed info at the moment.
Look for SP stations with callsigns SP1.../p, SP2.../p,
.../1 or .../2 working this weekend.
TF1IRA will be active during this special
weekend August 21-23rd. The operators will operate from a
lighthouse on the south coast of Iceland near Stokkseyri. The
name of the Lighthouse is: Knarrarosviti (viti lighthouse). The
location is: 63,49,25 N and 20,58,34 W. QSL is via TF bureau.
PJ9, CURACAO (Ops Needed). Geoff, W0CG,
Coordinator, reports that operators are needed for a plan
mid-profile, Field Day style operation from Curacao, operating as
PJ9CW, for the CQ WW SSB Contest, October 29-31st. The planned
category is Multi/Single, but this is negotiable depending on how
many operators they can sign up. Operations will be from the
Kadushi Cliffs Resort, a beautiful luxury vacation spot on the
northwest tip of the island. Geoff states, "PLEASE SIGN ON
VERY SOON, AS I NEED TO FINALIZE THE VILLA BOOKINGS WITH THE

QSL INFO AND NEWS...
TOM, G0PSE, reports that IOTA EU011 logs
of GB0SM (July 22-29th, 1999) and G5M (July 24-25, 1999)
are now available at: http://dx.qsl.net/logs.
QSL EW52BO (1/05-12/05/97) via the
bureau (before October, 1999). To receive a QSL from
EW52BO after October 1999, please send QSL to EW2EO
direct only + SASE.
RARE/NEW IOTA'S TO BE ACTIVATED (Update, Please Refer
to OPDX.421). Stuie, VK8NSB, reports that this week
things are on track for the November operations to Melville
Island (OC-173) and Croker Island (New IOTA). Two new operators
have been added (Zoli/HA1AG and Allan/VK2NNN) to the team of
Stuie/VK8NSB and Peter/VK8PDG. The team will operate 6 days on
each island. They plan to have 4 HF stations active, 2 on 24
hours, on CW/SSB/RTTY/SSTV. Plans are in the works (hopefully) to
be online with a chat line open for amateurs around the world to
speak to the children on both islands. OPDX InterNet Subscribers

T31 & ZK3, CENTRAL KIRIBATI AND TOKELAU (Update).
The planned operations by Mats/SM7PKK and Nils/SM6CAS is
continuing to progress. The announcement of operators now include
Erik/SM0AGD, Steve/G4EDG, Ulrika/SM6WYN (YL) and Lech/LA7MFA. The
scheduled DXpeditions are slated for Central Kiribati between
September 23rd and October 3rd and for Tokelau from October
7-12th. The callsigns to be used will be T31T, T31K, T31YL,
ZK3DX, ZK3CW and ZK3YL.
T8, PALAU. Hiroo, JA1WSX, will be traveling
here for a summertime vacation, but indicates that he will have
time to operate. He will be active here August 13-18th. His
callsign will be T88WX. Operations will be mostly 17 and 12
meters using a beam antenna with 500 watt amp. There will also be
some 6 meters operations. QSL to his home callsign JA1WSX (OK in
American call book).
V2, ANTIGUA & BARBUDA (An excerpt from a
press release, but all OPDX InterNet Subscribers will receive the
complete release as an additional bulletin). Team Antigua will
once again activate V26B on the Beautiful Island Nation of
Antigua and Barbuda in the upcoming CQWW SSB Contest on October
30-31th. Their plans are to enter the contest as a Multioperator/
Multi-transmitter catagory. Members of Team Antigua will also
make special attempts to be active on RTTY, PSK31, 160 meters and
the WARC Bands a few days both before and after the contest.
There is also a possibility of some 6 meter and Satellite
operations with conditions permitting. The following is a list of
