PY2YP, RA0FF, RV3MA, RZ1OA, VE5RA, VK9NS and ZS6WPX for the
following DX information.
3DA, SWAZILAND. Andre, ZS6WPX, will be
operating from here April 28th through May 2nd as 3DA0WPX. He
will be operating on 160-10 meters. Andre states to check the
following Web page for QSL info: http://www.infozone.co.za/hlatest.htm.
4W, EAST TIMOR. A 4W6SP showed up on the air
April 21st. Most of the activity has been on 20 meters CW, but
there have been some reports on 20/15 meters SSB. Not much is
known on this station, but hopefully we will know more next week.
QSL was reported to be 9A2AA.
5I, YAMBE ISLAND, TANZANIA (Update/Change/New IOTA).
Nasser, A41KG, has informed OPDX that the twelve members of the
Royal Omani Amateur Radio Society (ROARS) will be
heading/traveling to the Tanga Province, Tanzania, on June 27th,
to activate Yambe Island instead of Toten Island as first
reported. This is due to the advise from the IOTA committee. They
wish to respect and obey the rules and regulations since Toten
Island does not qualify for the IOTA program. The ROARS team
reviewed their plans and have gotten the permission to activate
Yambe Island by the Tanzania Communication Commission, which is
about three KM from Toten Island. Therefore, Nasser reports that
the team has already finished their administration preparation
and plans for this expedition. They will use the callsigns 5I3A
and 5I3B. They plan to be on the air simultaneously from July
1-10th, operating SSB/CW and digital on all bands. QSL cards are
via A47RS, P.O. Box 981, Muscat, Code: 113 Sultanate of Oman.
More details will be published soon.
7O, YEMEN. Operators DJ7MG, DK1II, DK9KX and
DL5EBE continue to be very active as 7O1YGF (Yemen German
Friendship) from Sanaa mostly on CW with activity on SSB/RTTY.
Operations have been on all bands, but most of the activity seems
to be on 20/15 meters and the WARC bands. They will continue to
be active unil April 30th. QSL: QSL all CW QSOs via DJ3XD and all
SSB/RTTY QSOs via DK9KX, either via the bureau or to their CBA.
A5, BHUTAN. We are just a little over a week
away (May 1-12th) before a major operation takes place from this
number 2 most wanted country hits the airway. A quick recap of
details presents that the operators will be: 9V1YC, JA3IG,
JA3USA, JF1IST, OH2BU, ON4WW, RA3AUU, UA3AB, K3VN, K4UEE, K5VT,

Bemidji, MN 56601 USA.
BQ9P WRAP-UP. Paul Daley, WT8S, informs OPDX
that the preliminary totals for BQ9P Pratas Island DXpedition are
31,000 plus QSOs. About 15,000 QSOS were on SSB, 15,000 on CW and
over 1300 on RTTY. Leo/K8PYD and Paul were particularly pleased
with the 1300 QSOs on RTTY and even more so with the number of
USA callsigns on that mode, more than half of which were east of
the Missisippi which showed the greatest need on RTTY in the
recent DX Magazine survey for RTTY. Paul states that he will be
submitting an article on the BQ9P 2000 operation in an upcoming
Issue of DX Magazine, focusing primarily on the RTTY aspects.
