YU1AB and The Prairie DX Group for the following DX information.
3XY2, GUINEA. "The 59(9) DX Report"
reports that Dan, VE2DPS, has returned to Conakry as 3XY2D, but
has antenna problems. He hopes to be active soon. QSL via W3HNK.
4W, EAST TIMOR (Web site updated). Rod, WC7N,
reports that the upcoming DXpedition's Web site has been re-done
to increase its usefulness. The data is the same, it is just
presented in a different format. Check it out at: http://www.qth.com/k7bv/timor/.
The web page has been updated to include a picture of Thor,
4W6MM.
A3, TONGA ISLAND (also Fiji). Hrane/YT1AD and
Dragan/Z32AU are active as A35AD and A35AU until October 28.
After Tonga Island, they will be operating as YJ0AD and YJ0AU,
between October 28 and November 5th. They will return to Fiji to
be active as 3D2AD and 3D2AU between November 5-10th. Activity
will be on CW and SSB on all HF bands including 6 meters. QSL via
YT1AD and Z32AU.
A5, BHUTAN (Activity). A Japanese team led by
Yoosuke, JH1NBN (who has been active from TI9X, TN7A, HK0, and
etc...) will be active from Paro, Bhutan, between October 27th
and November 3rd. The team consists of JA1PCY, JF1PJK, JH1NBN,
JK1AFI and JR7TEQ. They will take three HF transceivers and one 6
meters transiver for this DXpedition. They will operate on all
bands 160-6 meters, SSB/CW/RTTY. They will use their own callsign
(callsigns not mentioned). Some of members will participate in
the CQWW DX SSB Contest while others will continue to be active
on CW/RTTY or the WARC bands during the contest. Although only
using a 100 watts, they will try to work 160m and 80m with a 65
foot vertical. JK1AFI strongly wishes to give a new one for any
6m DXers. QSL all callsigns via JH1NBN: Yoosuke Uchiyama, 924-4
Yokokawacho, Hachioji, 193-0823 JAPAN.
Charly, K4VUD, announced this past weekend: "I have it on
good authority that I will be able to use at least 1000 watts
xmit power in Bhutan (A5) during my trip there in early December
2000. At this moment, I do not have a 1Kw linear, but the
permission is good news, at least. I want to try 160, 80 and 40
and am inquiring about 580 feet of straight line beverage
installation. With Bhutan's wind (the thunder dragon!), a balloon
vertical is likely out of the question. Antenna suggestions are
welcome. I have already purchased my airline ticket for this
trip, so if you know my thrift-iness, you know I am going! I will
have more details to release soon... watch this space..."
Charly's E-mail address is: k4vud@hotmail.com.
FO, FRENCH POLYNESIA (IOTA Activity). Look
for Joel, F5JJW, to be active as FO0SUC or FO/F5JJW from
Mangareva (OC-063) October 10-18th, Moorea (OC-046) October
18-22nd and Tikehau (OC-066) October 22-26th.
Look for Eric, F5SIH, to be active as FO/F5SIH from Tahiti
(OC-046) October 9-11th, Moorea (OC-046) October 12-15th, Huahine
(OC-067) October 16-18th, Raiatea (OC-067) October 18-20th, Bora
Bora (OC-067) October 20-24th and Rangiroa (OC-066) October
24-27th.
By the time you read this, Marcel, ON4QM, should be active. He
will be staying with Patrick/FO5QS and Guy/FO5NL for a few days.
No callsign was given/mention at press time. Marcel, however,
will be active mostly on CW on the high bands. He plans to go to
Hereheretue Island (OC-052) and possibly be active for one month
starting around September 25th. He will then return to Tahiti and
may then activate Maupihaa (OC-057) until November 25th. QSL via
ON4QM.
GM, SCOTLAND. On his way to the RSGB/IOTA
meeting in Windsor, Don, W9DC, will be visiting the beautiful
Outer Hebrides. The purpose of the trip is to identiy future
island operations and to operate when possible from various
islands when the weather and opportunity arises. Don will focus
on trying to give North American stations a few Scottish islands
from EU-10. He will use the callsign MM/W9DC when he visits the
Outer Hebrides from October 5-7th. Don states that he hopes to be
on Scalpay (OH-25) during the evening of October 5th. He also
plans to operate from 2 private islands, Oronsay (SC16) and Carna
(SC-17) in the Sugart Loch, sometime between October 8-11th
depending on the weather. MM/W9DC will use the IOTA frequencies.
QSL via home call direct or via bureau.
HQ, HONDURAS (Correction). Slight mistake in
OPDX.477. The HQ0R Web page should be: http://www.ure.es/honduras/honduras.htm
(not ending .html as reported in last week's OPDX.)
IOTA NEWS...

meters. QSL via the JARL Bureau (BUREAU is Best) or

AS-137. Zheng, BA4EG, reports that
BT20OO will be active again from Zhoushan Archipelago,
October 1-4th. QSL via through the bureau or direct to

past weekend as JI3DST/8. QSL to the same address above
under AS-049.
EU-063. A group under the leadership of
Mat, JW5NM, is planning a trip to Axeloya in the Svalbard
Archipelago. This is an extremly rare IOTA entity because
most of the area is off limits due to environmental
concerns. Because it is so remote, an expedition to this
area will be expensive, so the team is looking for some
financial support for this venture. Send E-mails to Rag
(LA5HE, OZ8RO, JW5HE) at: la5he@yahoo.no.
J8, ST. VINCENT. Look for Angel/WA2VUY,

will sign J8/homecall prior to CQWW SSB Contest; they hope to
obtain a special callsign for the contest. Activity will be on
all bands CW/SSB. ALL QSLs via W2EN.
KOREA DX CONVENTION 2000. Lee, HL1IWD,
informs OPDX that the Korea DX Club plans to have the 2000 Korea
DX Convention take place November 4-5th, at Chonan City, about
130km south of Seoul. They invite all countries to come and
visit. OPDX InterNet Subscribers will receive the complete press
release as an additional bulletin.

Tromelin DXpedition (around 6000). The QSL cards are not
printed yet. He also states to "Please don't forget
to send with your QSL a "Self Addressed
Envelope" (SAE). They have received a lot of QSL
already without it, and it takes a long time to write
addresses etc... They report that they will confirm only
requested QSOs. If you have sent a QSL during the
DXpedition and you made some other afterwards, and if you
want these QSOs confirmed, send them another card. You
can also check your QSO on the online log at the
FR/F6KDF/T Web page at: http://perso.easynet.fr/~f6jjx/menu.htm.
BI2J QSLs. Mac, W3HC, reports that he is
currently awaiting for info and a photograph from Alan,
BA1DU, for the BI2J operation. The cards will be printed
after receiving this information. Any and all cards (any
station) handled by Mac, W3HC, will be delayed for a
while due to the recent death of his daughter (SK on
September 16,2000). Mac adds, all mail received is being
stored in boxes until he can get to them. OPDX and
subscribers would like to send out our deepest sympathy
to him and his family.
Zheng, BA4EG, the QSL Manager of BI4CM
(AS-136), BI5X (AS-137) and BT20OO (AS-137), reports that
all QSLs sent for BI5X have been replied to.

printed soon.
As always, Baldur, DJ6SI, surprised
everyone on the air and became active from Guinea-Bissau
as J5X (on CW) with Franz, DJ9ZB, as J5Z (on SSB). Their
operation will be QRT by the time you read this. QSL via
their homecall direct or via the bureau.
TX0DX, 4W/N5KO AND 4W/W3UR QSL STATUS.
Many OPDX InterNet Subscribers received the special
bulletin (OPDX.477.1) and have made inquires about when
these cards are good to send in for credit. Again, these

all the papers I have submitted will be deemed 'enough'
but I have jumped thru my last hoop regarding this. I am
in the process of sending my XW1UD QSL to everyone I
worked via the bureau, but if you want a card fast, send
the usual SASE to me at K4VUD address..."
