3A, MONACO. Reports indicate that the
administration of Monaco has now authorized operations on 6
meters for amateur. This is after a 1 month test which proved
that there was no interference to other services. Laura, 3A2MD,
who is genrally active on all bands, is attempting to get
something up for this band. Until then, look for her on 10 meters
(28016 or 28446 kHz) between 0630-0700z and on 15 meters (around
21032 kHz) between 1000-1100z before she moves to 20 meters
CW/SSB.
3B, MARURITIUS. Jacky, 3B8CF, can be found
almost daily on 30 and 20 meters CW between 0230-0400z. Check
around 10106 and 14027. QSL via CBA.
3B9, RODRIGUES ISLAND. Robert, 3B9FR, usually
can be found on 15/17/20 meters between 1530-1930z. Check 14025,
18073 and 21295 kHz. QSL via CBA.
3D2, CONWAY. By the time you read this the
DXpedition team will be gathering in Nadi, Fiji. It seems that
there may be a delay due to one of team members did not get the
U.S. visa, and had to travel a different way. The whole team will
have to stay on Fiji until he arrives which will cause late
DXpedition start (about 12 hours). Operation was expected to
start February 22nd. Their final itinerary is posted on: http://www.kragujevac.co.yu/3d2/general/general.htm.
3Y, BOUVET. Chuck, 3Y0C, still continues to
be active more so than past weeks. He has been hitting almost
every band CW/SSB. He is even taking requests for CW contacts
after working him on SSB. Chuck was heard this past weekend on
28495, 21295, 18130, 14195, 10115 and 3772 kHz at various times.
It was mentioned this past week on one of the severval "DX
Reflectors" that Chuck is expected to leave Bouvet March 2nd
(not firm) and arrive in Cape Town on March 7th.
3W, VIETNAM. Three stations were heard this
past week. 3W2LI was heard on 28480 kHz around 0915z. Hans,
3W2LWS, on 14010 kHz between 1530-1700z (QSL via WA1LWS). His
activity will last until March 6th. Tom, 3W7CW, was heard on
28007 and 14028 kHz between 1330-1400z (QSL via SP5JTF).
4H/4I, PHILIPPINES (IOTA Activity/Update).
Frank, VE7DP, provided OPDX with another update on his and local
Philippine ham activity. The activity on the Island of Marinduque
as 4I1P made about 3800 QSOs from the new IOTA OC-244. This past
weekend (Feb. 17-19th), operators VE7DP, DU1KGJ, 4F1FZ and 4F1OZ
were expected to activate Lubang Island (OC-126) using the 4I1P
callsign again. QSL to VE7DP or DX1CW. Frank states arrangements
have been finalized for an expedition to Batan Islands (OC-093)
on February 24-27th. Ten members of the DX1CW club will be
participating and VE7DP will be one of the operators. The CW
Philippines have applied for 4H2B callsign. QSL via VE7DP or
DX1CW.
4S, SRI LANKA. Ernest/4S7EA and Nelson/4S7NE
have been keeping the CW crowd happy on 30 meters (arond 10106
kHz). Look for Nelson around 1245z and between 1930-2015z. Look
for Ernest between 2300-0100z, if not there check 20 meters on
14025 kHz.
8Q, MALDIVES. Mike, OE3MZC, continues to be
active as 8Q7MZ until February 21st. Activity has been on
15/17/20 meters SSB between 1200-1700z. QSL via home callsign.
9M6, EAST MALAYSIA (Update). Don/K6IPV and
Dave/W6AQ are now active from here as 9M6IPT and 9M6AQT,
respectively. Over the past weekend, they were active in the ARRL
DX CW Contest using the special callsign 9M6V. Activity is
expected to last until February 22nd. There are no other updates
on whether they will travel to Brunei (V8) for a few days. QSL
the contest callsign and their individual 9M6 callsigns to W6ORD,
good in all callbooks and databases for the last four years.
ATTENTION ALL DXERS. Paul, K5RT, CQ WAZ
Awards Manager, reports the following: "PLEASE do NOT send
WAZ applications to K1MEM's address. Jim has been deceased for
over a year now. WAZ applications continue to arrive at his QTH
nearly every week. Please help us spread the word. We at CQ have
tried very hard to make sure that the revised WAZ rules received
a very wide audience since last January. The WAZ rules can be
found on several national radio society web pages, in several
amateur radio magazines and on CQ's own web page (in 7 languages
even!). The URL for the CQ web site is: http://www.cq-amateur-radio.com.
Once again, please help get the word out to the DX Community at
large. Jim's widow should not have to be bothered with having to
forward WAZ applications after this long a period..... DX is! Vy
73 Paul K5RT CQ WAZ Awards Manager"
BQ9, PRATAS ISLAND. Reports indicate that

JA1AYC, RK3DT and W4NZC. QSL via KU9C.
CE0X, SAN AMBROSIO ISLAND. Mark, CE6TBN, sent
out a brief statement this past week. He said, "I'm sorry
but CE0XT is cancelled for transporting problem."
CE0Y, EASTER ISLAND. This will probably be
the last week to work Dick/DJ2EH and his wife Ann/DL8NBH as
CE0YEH. Activity has been on all bands including the WARC bands
mostly on CW (with some SSB) at various times. Most of the SSB
activity has been on 15/12/10 meters.
D6, COMOROS. The D68C team continues to be
very active until February 28th. They have kept their promise to
be active on all bands and modes. They were even heard on 10
meter FM. They are easy to find, usually begging for QSOs, and
easy to work. They will probably break a QSO record. Last heard,
they were over 61,000 QSOs.
EL, LIBERIA. Dickson, EL2DT, has been active
on 21255 kHz between 0930-1030z. QSL via IK0PHY.

should go to KU9C's callbook address.
FO & ZK, FRENCH POLYNESIA AND SOUTH COOK ISLANDS.
Dominique, F6EPY, will be on a "South Pacific
DXpedition" during the first fews of March. Look for him
between March 3-7th, as FO/F6EPY (?), from Moorea Island
(OC-046), French Polynesia. Also, look for him between March
8-16th, as ZK1EPY from Rarotonga Island (OC-013), South Cook (and
possibly Aitutaki Atoll). Operations will be mainly on CW on
80-10 meters including WARC bands. Look for him 18 kHz from the
lower band edge (7018, 10118, 14018....etc.). There is a
possibility of some SSB, digital modes (PSK31, RTTY) and 6m SSB.
Activity will be concentrated on European propagation. His
equipment is a IC-706 MK2G, Butternut HF9V and 2 x 20m center
feeded Zeppelin and a 3 element beam for 6m. A Web site is
available at: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/dominique.auprince/SP_DXPED.htm.
FO5, FRENCH POLYNESIA. F5DYD is now active as
FO5RA from Tahiti for the next 2 years. He uses a FT-847 and a 2

QSL INFO AND NEWS...
Juan, CO8TW, was active in this past
weekend's ARRL CW Contest as a Single Band/Low Power (10
meters) entry. QSL via IZ8CCW. Log will be available at: http://www.qsl.net/co8tw/.
The QSL Manager for EI9KLH (Kinsale
Light House) reports that all direct QSL requests have
now been dealt with, and all bureau cards received prior
to February 1st have been responded to. The Manager
apologizes for the delay in dealing with the large volume
of cards received.
Rob Snieder, PA5ET, informs OPDX that
all direct QSLs for V26EA, V26ET, V26FM, V26WP, VP2MPA,
8P9JR, 8P9JS, 8P9JT and 8P9JU contacts are mailed. The
bureau cards will be processed in the coming weeks. QSLs
can still be requested via PA5ET: Rob Snieder, Van
Leeuwenstraat 137, 2273 VS Voorburg, The Netherlands.
Bill/K6KM and Ginny/N6RER have just
return from Norfolk Island and operated as VK9NOO and
VK9NNN, respectively. Bill states to QSL VK9NNN and
VK9NOO to K6KM or N6RER (same address). They want to have
picture cards printed, so it will be at least a couple of
months before they can start sending cards to the
deserving. If you have an urgent need for a VK9NNN or
VK9NOO QSL, Bill states, "Send us a SASE with
'URGENT' on the envelope and we will edit an old VK9LOO
card for you. An e-mail follow up would be helpful."
Nat, WZ3AR, was active from Chinoteaque
Island, VA (USI# VA-002S) over the past weekend. This
operation counts for IOTA NA-083 (the VA State Group) as
well as the very rare Accomack County, VA. All QSLs are
via WZ3AR either direct or through the bureau. ADDED
NOTE: Chinoteaque Island is often confused with
Assateaque Island. Assateaque Island is a National
Seashore that runs on the coast of both MD and VA less
then one-mile from Chinoteaque at their closest point.
Chinoteaque Island counts for NA-083 and Assateaque
Island as NA-139. No WZ3AR/4 operation will be from
Assateaque Island.
VK0MM QSL UPDATE: Alan, VK0MM, reports
the following and requests to "PLEASE PASS ON AS YOU
SEE FIT" the update:
Alan (VK4AAR) is presently flooded under with QSL
requests... his turnaround time is thus likely to be
a bit longer until the initial rush has died down.
Alan (VK4AAR) requests the following points be noted
which will speed up the QSLing considerably:
Please include a self addressed envelope.
Please DO NOT stick Australian stamps on the
envelope. A Goods & Services Tax was recently
introduced in Australia and Australia Post is now
issuing new "International Only" stamps.
The older "standard" Australian stamps
being sent with some requests ARE NO LONGER VALID for
postage in Australia.
Please DO NOT send Yen, Lira, Deutsch Mark, Marrka,
Pounds, Roubles etc. etc. The Bank charges involved
in exchanging these to A$ are considerable. If you
want a VK0MM QSL card, then US$ or A$ ONLY please, or
if you really insist, then IRCs (which MUST be
franked at the originating office and MUST be less
than one year old to be accepted by Australia Post).
For the umpteenth time, VK4AAR is NOT the QSL manager
for VK0LD and does not have the log for this station,
so please do not send cards to him. QSL for VK0LD is
at: http://www.eQSL.cc/qslcard
Thanks & 73, Alan ... VK0MM
YK9A is now QRT. The group made over
27,000 QSOs during 7 days of operating time. Final
statistics will be available on the web site by the end
of the month. The team thanks the DX community for
keeping the pileups going 24 hours per day, and it was a
truly exciting event. They also thank their host Omar
Shabsigh, YK1AO for his hospitality and friendship. The
expedition would not have happened without his support,
and that of the Technical Institute of Radio. QSL via
K9LA.
SU, EGYPT. SU/ZS6WPX has been heard on
20/12/10 meters during the past week. Check between 28475 and
28490 kHz between 1330-1730z. Check around 24940-24950 kHz after
1100z and 14180 kHz after 1915z. QSL via ZS6WPX.

as SV5/GW0VSW from the Island of Rhodes (EU-001), June 16-30th.
Activity will be mainly CW on all bands 40-10 meters. Operation
should be around 0500-1600z family permitting. The rig will be an
IC-706 with dipole antennas. Look for Carl on the IOTA and QRP
frequencies. QSL via homecall.
SV9, CRETE. Dick, G3URA, will be active as
SV9/G3URA between February 22-27th. He reportedly likes CW, so
watch for him, especially on 14035 kHz. QSL via G3URA.
T32, EASTERN KIRIBATI. The OK operators now
active as T32RD will continue to be active until March 4th.
Activity in recent days has been on 80/40/15/10 meters CW.
However, they have been on the other bands and phone. Also, look
for them on 6 meters (check 50105 and 50125). QSL via OK1RD.
T8, PALAU. Yukio, JA6ENF, is expected to be
active this week as T88NF. He will be here on holiday (with his
family) between February 21-26th. Activity will be mostly CW on
80-10 meters. QSL via CBA direct or JARL.
TR, GABON. Alain, TR8CA, has been active on
10 meters (around 28462 kHz) between 1530-1600z. QSL via F6CBC.
Xavier, TR8CX, is another station who has been active but on 15
meters (around 21260 kHz) after 2130z.
XE, MEXICO. The Mexican "Radio Club
Satelites, A.C.", XE1RCS, will be active once more in the CQ
WW 160m Phone Conetst. Last year they obtained "Second Place
World Multi Operator" category. They will be especially
looking for Europe, Asia and Africa with improved antennas. QSL
via XE1KK.
XX9, MACAU. There are only a few days left to
work Ulf, SM0GNU, as XX9TDX. He will leave on the 20th. During
the weekend, he was heard on 30/17/10 meters CW. QSL via SM0GNU.
