"Pirate/SLIM" operations. As always, you never know -

Subscribers will receive an additional bulletin (due to its size)
with a complete breakdown and "DXCC/Entities Chart of
Activity".
3B6RF OPERATION MAY BE QRT, BUT HELP IS NEEDED!
The 3B6RF team managed to log 64,207 QSOs in 8.5 days, but all of
these QSOs came with a big price tag. The 3B6RF's operation time
was expected to be 15 days but had to be cut back due to
transportation problems. These problems caused an unexpected
expense. Preliminary estimates have put their travel expenses at
approximately $48,000 over cost just to get to Agalega and back.
OPDX was told the team still does not know how this is going to
be covered and is still up in the air. The 3B6RF team is counting
on the generousity of the ham community with QSL donations and
possibly some added donations from DX associations. Please
remember to possibly add something a little extra in your SASE
for your 3B6RF. Steve, N3SL, is handling the N.A. QSLs, all other
areas QSL via HB9AGH.
4W, EAST TIMOR. Thor, 4W6MM, can usually be
found on 15 or 20 meters a few kHz up from the band edge between
0930 and 1300z.
7Q, MALAWI. Five Japanese operators will be
active from here June 6-19th. Operators will be Mizuho/JG6BKB
(7Q7CW), Yoshiki/JR6XIW (7Q7DU), JJ6VOV (7Q7EN), Kazuaki/JA2LZF
(7Q7KZ) and Okabe/7Q7YL (who will stay there for the next two
years). Activity is expected on HF and 6 meters. QSL all to
JG6BKB, except 7Q7KZ is via JA2LZF.
BX5, TAIWAN (New Prefix). Jimmy, BX5AA, has
activated the new prefix and has been on 15/20 meters SSB/
MFSK16. Watch between 1500 and 1800z, around 14079.5 kHz for
MFSK16 and between 21250 and 21275 kHz for SSB.
CE0Z, JUAN FERNANDEZ ISLAND. Elias, CE0ZIS,
has been active on 15/12/10 meters this past week. Check around
21260, 24936 and 28495 kHz between 1330 and 2200z.
CQ7, PORTUGAL. Now through possibly June
10th, look for the Moscatel Radio Group will be active as CQ7MRG
from Mouchao da Povoa (reference number RI-008 for the Portuguese
Island Award). Activity will be mainly 40 meters.
EM, UKRAINE (Free Award!). The Ukranian
Amateur Radio League (UARL) will be active in the IARU HF World
Championship, July 14-15th, from the UARL Headquarters using the
special callsign EM0HQ. The HQ station's site (UR4MZL) is in
Lisichansk city. The team leader is Vladimir, UX2MM. The QSL
Manager for the team is Shevchenko Alexader, UR5EAW. The team is
hoping to hit the World record. A "FREE" award is
availble for working this station with "NO APPLICATION"
to fill out. To receive the UARL's "Ukraine 2000"
award, the rules are simple:
1) Work EM0HQ during theWorld Championship
2) For DX stations - 2 QSOs any mode
3) For European station - 4 QSOs any mode.
Again, NO award application is needed. The award application
is the log of EM0HQ. The award is free and is sent through the
bureau. This information was provide by Alexander, UR5EAW, QSL
Manager for EM0HQ. For any questions, send E-mail to: em0hq@qsl.net.
EP, IRAN. Yar, EP3SP, can sometimes be found
on 20 meters CW/SSB/RTTY between 1500 and 2030z. Check above
14200 (SSB) or 14090 (RTTY) and 14002 (CW) kHz. QSL via W3HC.
Mohsen, EP3SMH, is also active and usually looking for the U.S.
on 15 meters. Check around 21300 kHz and above after 1730z. For
Europe, look on 10 meters around 28495 kHz beginning around
1730z. QSL via CBA.

K4JZ, reports that his "Poor Boy DX-Pedition" is on
schedule. He will be leaving Kentucky on June 9th and hopes to

N4SIA.

Dale Richardson, AA5XE, will operate from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba
(FK29, NA015), during the period of June 29th through July 5th.
Area clearance has been granted and callsigns will be announced
later. Operation will be primarily on SIX meters with possible
activity on HF. Proposed frequencies will be 50.102 MHz for

Africa, N. and S. America. Questions can be submitted to: W5OZI: w5ozi@ktc.com -or- AA5XE: aa5xe@ktc.com
MOUNTAIN DXPEDITION (Update). In July, a
group of Tajik Hams/Tourists are planning to climb a nameless
peak on the Central Pamir mountainous system and name it
"Radio Amateur's Peak". At the present, paperwork is in
progress, but the actual name can be allocated only after the
expedition, and this will involve many other factors. Altitude of
this mountain is about 5800 meters above sea level. The ham
operators involved are Vladimir/EY8HB, Faruh/EY8AV and
Nodir/EY8MM. Faruh/EY8AV will stay in the base camp and
coordinate the trip for EY8HB and EY8MM who will attack the
mountain's peak. A special callsign was requested and they hope
to sign EY1ARP. It will be used only from the top of the
mountain. All other times the operators will sign homecall/4. The
equipment to be used is an IC-706MK2G and QMAC-HF90 TXCVRS. For
20 meters, they will have a wire vertical made from a light
weight fishing rod. For 40 meters, they will use an Inverted Vee.
This expedition will be limited to battery power for which they
will carry 7AH batteries to the peak. They will save the power
for the mountain top operations and for emergencies. For a few
more details, pictures of the moutain, and possible updates,
check the following Web page: http://www.qsl.net/ey8mm/ey1arp.html.
OY, FAROE ISLANDS. Ari, OH7KA/OH3KAV, will be
active from the Faroe Islands during his vacation there from June
6-10th. This is not a high profile DXpedition, but he will try to
be on the air at least few hours each day, mainly on 20 meters
CW. His callsign will be OY/OH7KA. QSL via OH3KAV.

QSL REQUEST. OPDX has been asked to find
out what the QSL status is of the XR0ZY operation that
took place in April 2000. Apparently, a bunch of
Minnesota DXers have tried everything they can think of,
including E-mails to the QSL Manager, etc. and haven't
gotten this one confirmed. Can anyone help?
