* PLEASE NOTE: The report "could" contain
"Pirate/SLIM" operations. As always, you never know -
"Work First Worry Later" (WFWL).
3W, VIETNAM. Karl, W9XK, is now active
signing 3W2XK near Saigon and will be in Vietnam until April 9th.
He was spotted this past week on 14260 and 14245 kHz. Other
reports indicate that he will also be active on 15 and and 10
meters. Also, check the Southern Cross Net (14226 kHz at 1200z)
and the DX Family Hour Net (14245 kHz at 1500z) almost every day.
QSLs should be sent via W9XK but after April 9th.
5U, NIGER (Update). Paolo, I2UIY, reports
that the dates of their DXpedition to Niger have been finally
decided and tickets (licenses) are in their hands. The DXpedition
will take place from Fenruary 3-18th, 2002. A Web site has been
created to support the upcoming DXpedition and the URL address
is: http://www.qsl.net/niger-2002.
There is survey on the Web page to help them understand on which
bands and modes Niger is needed by the DX community. Please help
them spreading the word about the survey. Paolo also mentions
that during last weekend they tested the new antennas for low
bands that they will carry with them. The 7 operators will keep 3
stations active on SSB, CW, RTTY and PSK31 from 160-6 meters. A
station will be active on 80/160m each night.
8R, GUYANA. Esmond, 8R1AK, continues to be
very active with the special callsign 8R1USA until the end of the
year. His activity over the past week was on 20/17/15/12/10
meters usually starting after 2300z and staying on until 0200z or
later. QSL via 8R1AK.

meters on 21280 kHz after 0530z and again around 1100z. QSL via
Bhutan ARC.
ANTARCTICA NET. On 21275 kHz each Monday at
about 1700z a traffic net-like operation is held on this
frequency. DXers have a chance at this time to work stations from
Antarctica, however, DXers should allow the Antarctica stations a
chance to exchange their traffic info first before trying to work
them. The net is usually visited by ZS7/ZS4AGA and R1ANF, as well
as VP8CMH/mm regularly. In the coming weeks, they expect the
following stations to possibly visit them: KC4/N3SIG from Mc
Murdo Base, R1ANF who is expected to arrive at Bellingshausen
Base, YL Mechita who might be active from DP0GVN from the Neumyer
Base and the possible activation of the new German base
"Kohnen Station".
D902, SOUTH KOREA (Attention Prefix Hunters).
Look for special event station D902WSF to be active December 31st
through January 4th, from the Pohang Branch in South Korea. The
callsign's (D902WSF) phonetics represent the following:

edition of DXCC most wanted, they are doing it again. The 2002

be active from Jersey, on the Channel Islands, as GJ6UW from the
afternoon of February 15th to the morning of February 17th, 2002.

Operators on the trip will be Martin Atherton, G3ZAY, and Dominic
Smith, M0BLF. They will be active from a location in the northern
part of the island and hope to work on all bands from topband to
ten meters, SSB and CW. Topband operation should be with a 160m

D68C QSL UPDATE. Don, G3XTT, informs us
that Phil, G3SWH, reports that nearly 60% of the direct
requests for D68C QSLs have now been processed and that
around 30,000 QSOs have been confirmed to date. Phil also
reports that he is starting to receive a large number of
"second requests". This is not necessary, and
only slows things down. The D68C team wants to record its
thanks to Phil for his efforts to date. When he agreed to
take on the job, he had little idea that D68C would make
some 75% more QSOs than any previous DXpedition!
CORRECTION. Mike, GM0HCQ, informs OPDX
that an old address was published in OPDX.505 dated April
2, 2001, a while back. QSLs for GM0HCQ/MM should go to
the following address: Mike Gloistein, 27 Stormont Way,
Scone, Perthshire, PH2 6SP, Scotland, UK. DO NOT use the
address at Rose Cottage Kinlochleven. Mike has not lived
there for over two years, and any QSL cards sent to this
address will not be forwarded on to him.
QSL Manager Charlie, HA8IB, reports that
all hams sending him direct QSLs confirming contact(s)
with FO/HG9B and to assure that their card(s) have been
delivered to him, should send a short E-mail message to
him asking if he has received your cards. This will help
avoid any problems. His E-mail address is: ha8ib@bekesnet.hu.
QSL via DIRECT ONLY /w 2 USD to HA8IB: Karoly Szabo,
Aradi u.42, Fuzesgyarmat, 5525 HUNGARY
