2003 MOST WANTED SURVEY. Carl Smith, N4AA,
Editor/Publisher - QRZ DX and The DX Magazine (Also, DX Column
Editor for CQ Magazine), has once again asked OPDX to help spread
the word that the "DX Magazine Most Wanted Survey" is
now being taken, and the deadline to respond is October 15th.
Here is your chance to be counted and list the DXCC entities you
need or do not have confirmed yet. Not all DXCC entities are
listed, only the obvious hard ones. The 2003 survey is available
on the Web at: http://www.dxpub.com/dx_survey2003.html. Look
for the results to be listed in early 2004.
3C0, ANNOBON ISLAND. Everything seems to be a
go with next weekend's 3C0V DXpedition which begins Sepptember
26th and ends October 10th. Operators and their callsigns are:
Franz/DJ9ZB - 3C0F; Elmo/EA5BYP - 3C0A; Victor/EA5FO - 3C0R;
Vicente/EA5YN - 3C0V. Activity will be on all bands 160-6 meters
CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK and some SSTV. They hope to have at least two
stations on the air 24 hours a day. They are still looking for
donations; any amount as small as it may be will be appreciated
and can be sent to: DX Club Tabarca Island, President Elmo
EA5BYP, P.O. Box 3097, 03080 Alicante, Spain. QSL via DJ9ZB. For
more information on the 3C0V DXpedition, visit the following Web
page at: http://www.tabarca.es.mn.
4W, TIMOR LESTE. Peter, 4W3CW, was heard this
past weekend on 30/20/17/12 meters CW between 1000-1330z. He will
be on the air for one more year. He works only CW with 100 watts
into a vertical. QSL via: Peter McKay, UNMISET, PO Box 2436,
Darwin, NT 0801, Australia.
5R8, MADAGASCAR (IOTA Op). Remember Phil,
G3SWH, and his wife are expected to fly to Ile Sainte Marie (IOTA
AF-090) on September 22nd and stay until the 27th. Phil was
active this past week as 5R8HA on 30/20/17 meters CW. He will use
the callsign 5R8HA/p from IOTA AF-090. Again, activity is
expected on 40-10 meters, CW only. Please remember that he is on
holiday and not a DXpedition. QSL via G3SWH.
9H, MALTA (Contest/IOTA Op). The Latvia team
consisting of Girts/YL2KL, Karl/YL2MD and Andy/YL2GQT will be
active from Gozo Island (EU-023) as 9H3M during the CQ/RJ
Worldwide DX RTTY Contest (September 27-28th) as a Multi-Single
or Multi-2 entry. QSL via YL2KL. The team will be there from
September 24-30th and will be active outside of the contest. Look
for Girts/YL2KL as 9H3KKL, Karl/YL2MD as 9H3MMD and Andy/YL2GQT
as 9H3GQT. Activity will be on all HF bands CW/SSB/RTTY.
9M6, EAST MALAYSIA. Bob, N2OO, will once
again be operating from the Hillview Gardens Resort station (http://www.qsl.net/9m6aac)

Visit Bob's, N2OO/9M6OO, homepage at: http://www.qsl.net/n2oo.
Check out the 9M6AAC/9M6A Web page at: http://www.qsl.net/9m6aac.
9N, NEPAL. Janusz, SP9FIH, informs OPDX that
he will probably be in Nepal from November 15th to December 5th.
He expects to only be active on the bands between 20-12 meters
because the cost of the amateur radio licence is rather high
(about 50 USD per band and 100W transmiter). He will try to
concentrate on U.S. propagation as he knows it is a difficult
area for U.S. amateurs. Janusz is looking for any advice on what
bands and at what times he should operate from during this time
of the year (Is there a long path route?). Suggestions are
welcome, E-mail to: sp9fih@poczta.onet.pl.
9Y4, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO. Ben, DL6FBL, will
be active as 9Y4TBG in the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October
25-26th) as a Single-Op/All Band/High Power entry. Antennas to be
used are: 10/15/20m (two Tribanders), 40m (2-element beam) and
80/160m (Titanex Vertical, K9AY Loop). QSL via DL4MDO. His web
page for this operation is at: http://www.dl6fbl.de/9y4tbg/.
A5, BHUTAN. Hawk, SM5AQD, informs OPDX that
he and Pelle, SM7EHU, would be active from A52-land between
September 25th and October 2nd. Callsigns and their plans of
activity/operations were not provided. QSL via SM7EHU.
BQ9P, PRATAS ISLAND. The Chinese Taipei
Amateur Radio League (CTARL) is planning to head back to Pratas
Island during an upcoming freight schedule arrangement for Pratas
Island, October 7-16th. Updated operator list so far is: BV4FH,
BV3BW, BV3FG, JI6KVR, DL3DXX, DK7YY, ZL4PO, OE1WHC and N2OO. They
plan to have two stations on the low bands, which will be the
focus of DL3DXX and DK7YY. Concentration will also be made on the
WARC bands and SSTV. Paul, BV4FH, and team are looking for BQ9P
DXpedition sponsors and pilot stations. If you can help, please
contact JI6KVR at: ji6kvr@orange.ocn.ne.jp.
Lee, ZL2AL, is the pilot station for the ZL/VK area. The BQ9P Web
site is at: http://www3.ocn.ne.jp/~iota/newpage64.htm.
DXCC NEWS. Bill Moore, NC1L, ARRL DXCC
Manager, announced that the following operation is approved for
DXCC credit: IRAQ - YI1BGD - This operation was on hold for DXCC

Richard/DJ4OI, Andreas/DL3GA, Markus/DL1IAN, and Joachim/DF6IC
are now active as FO/homecall from Tubuai (OC-152) until October
3rd. Activity has been mainly CW/SSB but look for RTTY and
digital modes. Their expected activity should be on 80-6 meters
including the WARC bands. QSL via their home callsign, bureau or
direct.
FS, ST. MARTIN. Operators David/K3LP
(leader), Larry/N7DD and Clint/W3ARS will head to St. Martin and

28th from Holyhead Breakwater Lighthouse (ARLHS WAL-011).

or bureau.
QSL INFO AND NEWS...
Ron Lago, AC7DX, would like to tell the
Ham community that he has found the following OLD logs
and will try to confirm all old requests. Some logs are
partial logs, some barely readable. Not all blank QSL
cards have been found, but he will reprint the ones he
does not have. These are all hand written logs and in
disarray. Please allow him time to search through these
by hand to find your call. Please send your request
direct with return envelope and postage to: AC7DX, POB
25426, Eugene, Oregon 97402. Here is the list he has
provided:
TG0AA QSL DELAY. Dennis Motschenbacher,
K7BV, informs OPDX: "The cards for my TG0AA
operation in 2003 ARRL DX CW were ordered months ago from
the PY2TNT QSL printing service. In the mean time, the
fine gentlemen of the Club de Radioaficionados de
Guatemala have been getting increasing numbers of anxious
inquiries from DXers for status of QSL requests sent to
the club. Weeks and weeks of emails to Anderson, PY2TNT,
requesting status or return of my money have gone
unanswered. Now E-mails bounce and the website of this
questionable business is off line. The TG9 club is moving
ahead with printing the cards via another route so this
matter can be cleared up. Please accept my apologizes for
this unfortunate delay brought on by unethical business
practices - I hope other operators are not waiting on
cards from PY2TNT."
ROUTE 66 CALLSIGNS. OPDX has been asked to
explain what are "Route 66" callsigns (N6A-N6M). This
is a special event which took place between September 6-14th.
This year's 4th annual "Route 66 On The Air" event was
hosted by the "Citrus Belt Amateur Radio Club". Several

certificates and special QSL cards available. The event is to
celebrate the U.S. Highway 66, which was established in 1926 and
was the first major improved highway that linked the West Coast
with the nation's heartland. More details and QSL info is
available via the following Web page: http://www.qsl.net/w6jbt.
SPECIAL EVENT. The special event station,
EM225G, is celebrating the 225th anniversary of Kherson City,
Ukraine (CQ zone 16, KH66hp), from September 19-30th. Activity
over the past weekend was on 40/20 meters. Watch around 7076 and
between 14200-210 kHz between 0900-1330z. QSL via UR3GM, by the
bureau (Box 56, Kiev 01001, Ukraine), or direct to: Igor Pulin,
Box 23, Kherson 73022, Ukraine. Bureau QSLs can be requested by
sending an E-mail to: itel@ukrincom.net.

look for special event station, HF8JP, to be active to celebrate

meter operations with conditions permitting. Their Grid Square is
FK-97 and IOTA Number is NA-100. Operators will make their
presence felt on all bands starting on or about October 22th
until about November 2nd. The members of "Team Antigua"

that "This is the final notice for those young ops
interested in a FREE trip to VP5 during the CQWW CW Contest.

that Sada, JA1AKF (not JA1AHF as listed in OPDX.626), signing
YA1D from Kabul, is now active on SSTV and PSK with the help of
YA1PBV. Look for low band operations to take place after November
(Masa will keep us informed). Also, the club station, YA0J, was
active on September 11th with guest operators as a memorial. QSL
for YA1D and YA0J is via JG1OWV. Masa states that YA1D QSL should
